User NoFourthWall has been adding tale links to people's author pages lately. While he has been matching authors accordingly, I feel that it's not his place to add tale links, especially if the authors themselves didn't ask him to change their pages.

I think someone already sent him a discreet PM about this, but he edited Chubert's personnel page today.

Edit: Here's a list of other author profiles he's made (unsolicited, as far as I can see) edits to:
Arlecchino/Burns - adding tale Joseon
DrBright - adding two tale links (where story arcs go, an In the End)
Randomini - added links to eulogy for living, wowee u kild urself
Djoric - added link to Belation in the Evening
weizhong - added The Tinkerer

They've also got a few edits on the Foundation Tales page and the Project Crossover page. And they added the "collaboration" tag to a bunch of canon hubs. Looks like they're just trying to help out.

Edit edit: Just checked the tales and crossover page edits. Just adding page links and fixing formatting. Man, I wish this guy would use edit comments. I had to do a lot of scrolling. That said, he seems to have done a lot of edits involving links to Bright's work. Seeing as Bright has been on hiatus, I don't think those actions were requested.

Wait, waiiiiit, missed this. I believe this is explicitly against the rules, and he hasn't started using edit comments.

I don't want to escalate disciplinary action here, but I'm gonna go ahead and send him a PM about it. Will record it in another post so as not to mess up this thread's continuity further.

It has come to my attention that you've been editing other people's author pages, usually to add links to their tales. I can see that you're trying to be helpful, but you need to stop. Editing others' author pages without permission is strictly against the rules. If you would like to see a change made to someone's author page, you may send the author a PM or post on the author page's discussion thread, but do not edit others' author pages again without explicit written permission.

This is an official warning. If you ignore it, there will be further disciplinary action.

I'd missed this line before. Is this true? I'm pretty sure it's not. Or is my memory just borking here? ._.

He's still editing Foundation Tales to add in links to other users' pages. 15 of the last 20 edits are his. It's kinda ridiculous, even if it's well-intended. :|

I'd say that it's fine. Admittedly, it doesn't look great in the light of their history, but these are constructive edits. Adding things onto author pages without permission is bad, but I don't think we can also apply that line of thinking to the tales page.

It's not even bad so much as pretty borderline. Many people have done that without issue. I'd say it's an issue with them because they've been doing it so much (IE more than once or twice) without leaving a comment trail and checking back to make sure they're okay.

Updating Foundation Tales, though, is fine so long as they don't fuck it up. Tales are required to be linked from the Tales page, authors don't get a choice in that.

Adding stuff to the Foudnation Tales page is absolutely fine, in my opinion, so long as he's not messing with people's author pages. The Tales page is intended as a hub/resource and he's just improving it by linking to things that are supposed to be linked.

EDIT: Wait, looks like I misread what he was doing. I thought he was adding links to previously missing Tales, rather than adding links to the author pages. With that in mind… eh, it's still a public resource and he's adding useful content. I'm still cool with it.

To be clear, they are adding links to previously missing Tales on the Foundation Tales page. (Which, by the way, is an enormous help and I almost want to send them a PM saying thanks.)

First of all, I really appreciate the effort you've put into adding missed links to the Tales page. That's an immense help.

That said, you must use edit comments on pages you edit that are not your own, especially if you make a ton of edits. As it says in Site Rules:

> Please fill out the 'Short description of changes' box.

Otherwise, staff see a wall of edits to a communal page and then have to hunt down through your edits to see what it is exactly that you edited, see?

They've been adding descriptions, but usually just stuff like "Added a missing tale." and "Added a few missing tales". While this is better than nothing at all, it still would make staff have to scroll around a lot if they wanted to check the edit.

Would it be too much trouble to ask them to put in the name of the author(s) whose tale(s) they're adding links for?

Edit: I've noticed that their most recent change to the Foundation Tales page (version 1425), includes moving around tales for proper alphabetical order (which was not mentioned in the edit comment). It doesn't seem that worrisome because I'm assuming they mean well, but if we needed to push for edit descriptions, you'd think they should at least be accurate, else staff are going to have to keep keeping an eye on the guy…

I'm Zyn, a moderator on the SCP Foundation wiki. First off, thanks for helping keep the Foundation Tales page up to date and organized. It's quite industrious of you to do so.

That said, it's been noticed that your edit comments (I'm aware that an admin has contacted you already regarding those) have generally been the same thing, mentioning the addition of "missing tales". Could you be more specific? Staff like to keep track of the edits that appear in Recent Changes on the site, and it'd be a big help if you could put the username(s) of the author(s) whose tales you're adding links in to.
