The International Branch has curated a selection of articles from their branches to be posted on the EN wiki. Currently, the plan is for this to go live soon. There's still some work to be done though, and we need some help from mostly tech team and critters.

This is the big page of information related to the articles themselves. (what branch they're from, who's the author, who's the translator, etc). It needs to be looked at for proper tags, and it may need to be looked at for preparation mistakes.

This is the INT hub mockup. Based on Deci's design in the first proposal. Dead links are shown in black here and in the articles, so that articles that link to lots of other pages in the original wiki are not full of orange links. This needs review to make sure it will work on the wiki.

This is the master list of articles. There are about sixty articles to review. It's got word counts attached, which is very helpful. International has a different system for reviews, which I'm linking here Mostly, you'll be looking at grammar and spelling, with the occasional odd wording and "what is trying to be said here?" because English is a really weird language and things don't always translate perfectly.

I'm very excited for this project to be reaching everyone, these are all excellent articles and I think this will be a great bridge between the International wikis and EN. If you have any questions, I can be reached over IRC, Discord, and wikidot PM, and can usually respond after 4 PM EST (GMT -5). There's also the INT discord, which is a great way to get in contact with authors, translators, and native speakers.

Hey guys, just a quick update. Posting begins on Sunday October 7th, and we now have an order in which the articles will be posted. This order is listed in the same place as the master list of articles.

They will be posted using the [[include]] function which works cross-wiki-wise. This way the article always is up to date wherever it is posted.
To the user, it looks and behaves as if the code was put on EN directly, there is no difference in rating or commenting.

For convenience, dead links will be shown as black, as some articles contain lots of links to other articles of their branch which are not translated.

Images for which we have not been able to find CC sources will be hidden by CSS until the source or a replacement has been found, that has been approved by ProcyonLotor. It will look as if there where no images at all. Also the images are all hardlinked and uploaded to the INT wiki or other sources but are not located on EN.

It behaves like every other article, the function inserts the code from another page when it is sent to the users browser. Rating, comments, tagging, parent pages etc, all that works as you are used to. We give them the tags they have on INT (without INT's system tags), you can see them in the first link. If you want, you may add tags to the document or tell us if you what extra tags. You can edit the tags like on every other article once they are posted.

Who is posting these articles upon completion? The translators? Staff members? If it's the latter, could we use a dummy/administrative account to post them to the site? Mainly wondering how this is going to work for proper attribution/metadata handling.

Also, I figure this is part of the plan, but as it's not mentioned: I hope we're going to work out some form of staggered approach to posting, as to not flood the wiki with more works than could reasonably be viewed/judged at once by mainsite members. Is there a plan for the timeframe?

I will post them, but using a dummy account is a good idea, I will do that :)
Each article gets full attribution in their first comment, you can preview that in the first link.

Originally I planned to post all at once, but if you prefer a staggered approach I can post one set in four successive days (one per branch, 13 articles + supplements in the first day, 11 in the following days). I can also make breaks of ~15 min between each article if you want.

For the future, we plan to regularly (1 a week or so, the interval will have to be discussed) add new entries.

If an article gets a rating so low it has to be removed, it will be replaced by another one.

Staggering them would definitely make things easier for everyone. If 60 articles were posted in one day it’s doubtful most of them would get more than a handful of users reading them.

Not sure about daily, but in terms of number of successful SCPs 65 pages would be more than most months period. In September we had 150 surviving pages total but that included plenty of tales, goi formats, author pages, hub pages, art pages, etc. By my count there was only a bit over 50 SCPs that made it.

Are the articles in this collection all SCPs or is it a mix of them and tales?

That's still kind of a lot. You also need to figure that posting so many will crowd out authors on our own site posting their new and original works.

I like the idea of randomizing the posting.

That said, how about making an announcement thread to let the community know about the brief uptick in posted articles as the international material is introduced?

And then have an announced posting schedule, so mainlist writers can anticipate when the international posts will happen. Then they can decide to choose a different time to post their work if they'd rather not have the dispersal of attention?

If it were up to me, I'd just post one article per day (including supplements).

If there is an administrative sock account in charge of posting, it could be in the hands of a couple people - in case dropping by daily to post articles is unfeasibke for a single person.

Hell, do it as a daily thing, and we make a thing of it: Having the month of November be an impromtu celebration of our sister branches.

Edit: and agreeing with Zyn that we should have this announced on the mainsite with whatever schedule is decided upon.

We are currently discussing if we want a dummy account or not. I think we can with no problem post 2 articles per day. All info for posting is gathered, it's just copy and paste.

I myself would post in the morning CET, which is night in America, so most American users won't find that interfering with their posting times.
We also have several staff members who would be willing to post, and most of the active INT staff members are from Europe so even if one would post in the afternoon CET it would still be morning in America (most of your users are from America, right?).

We indeed should make an announcement and post in the Hub's comments at what times of day new INT articles are to be expected.

I think in that light it would be good to prepare a list when which article is going to be posted, so those who want to help us with spelling and grammar know in which order they should check the articles.

Has the classification and tagging situation been decided upon yet? I.e. will grom just be posting these in open slots or will they be listed under their original designations with the -[int name here] suffix as a unique category? And will they receive full attribute tagging or could we just tag them with scp and translation, maybe a new tag too for these articles to separate them from previous translations that were just posted normally like 2470 was?

For the sake of not clogging slots, making sure people know these are from the int branches, and in the tagging case simple expediency, I reccomend the latter solutions for both issues.

We intend to post them with their original naming syntax (SCP-123-XY or SCP-XY-123, depending on the branch) and listing them in the INT-Hub. I would see it as a series separated from the main series. Tagging on EN is up to your discretion, we provide the tags they have on INT (the original attribute tags plus the branches code, e.g. "ru").

You can see the tags we plan to give each article in the first link in LadyKatie's post. If you want a tag for this series, we can add that too, you may also add tags to that document by yourself if you want, we will add them when we post the articles.

So, unless you object we will start on Sunday with the first round. Each day we will post 2 articles. Then we take a break and talk with each other and with you how it went and take community feedback into account, and see if we change the posting pattern. With the current pattern, we start each round on a Sunday.

Here is a timeline when what article is to be posted (yet awaiting some branches input).
The first are SCP-521-KO, SCP-1092-RU and the Hub itself

With the fixed dates when what is posted, reviewing should be a lot easier. It would be sufficient if two native speakers with some experience in formulating SCPs would check one article each day. Wouldn't even have to be the same each day. I hope we can make such arrangements.
Until then I just ask that someone volunteers to check the above mentioned three articles for spelling, grammar and basic expression and that the other articles in the list find someone willing to check them (SCP-1092-RU is a language based meta SCP with some instructions in the code). The more the merrier.

As I've finally caught up on this…

I've noticed a bunch of articles have tags which don't exist in EN's tag system. Currently, tags need to be approved, and meet minimum requirements in order to be indexed on EN.

I've brought this up to LadyKatie, and we'll work together to find a solution to this, but we may be removing non-EN tags from INT Hub articles in the near future, as a heads up.

Are you fine with the pace of 2 articles per day? For me as the one who posted the articles so far, it is ok.

Regarding the tags, just tell me which tags they shall have and which not and I make sure that future postings accord to your wishes. It has been proposed to give all of them a certain "int" or "scp-int" or "international" tag, which I think would be preferable.

For now, if possible, just make sure that tags exist on EN already.

If articles posted by INT reach the EN thresholds for tag approval, we can create them on this side too.

Provisionally, "international" is approved for tagging them. The language specific information is already in the title, so I don't think we need language specific tags at this point. (And most of them only have 1 or 2 for now)

I will make sure that language and GOI tags etc. are removed and all get "international".
