I read through some of this…there's a difference between offering a critique and being rude. You were being rude. Feel free to offer help, but don't make it overly long and full of unneeded rudeness.

Ordinarily this wouldn't merit an O5 thread, I think, but the user also made a post on the complaints thread:

I want to complain about a "Comment" left by a user named Musuko in the comment section for SCP-1759. The thing is one overly long bit of rudeness. I can take criticism, but not when the criticism comes from a complete jerk.

This is overreacting. Procyon staffposted. I was pleased with the way the user managed to turn around their SCP from deletion threshold to +30, but self-victimization isn't going to help anyone on the site.

Edit: Cyon's got a point. There should be a place where people can report specific users to SCP site staff. Harassment team should handle that, I think?

Quite honestly, I was rather annoyed to see how poorly he took Musuko's comments when the first two pages of the discussion are negative criticisms that he handled rather well. I'm sincerely hope this is just the result of a misunderstanding, or maybe just a bad day on PowerTower's part, especially since I was impressed with his turning around of 1759. Time will tell, I guess.

Side question, should there be a note somewhere in the complaints thread about contacting staff for issues regarding individual users?

The way they're being fairly flippant and passive-aggressive in the context of replying to the open staff posts troubles me. I don't think people should absolutely bow down to everything staff says when they say it, but when they complain about someone breaking a rule to the people making the rules who in turn inform the complainer that it didn't actually break the rules… I dunno, the attitude worries me. I'm don't think this is really grounds for a warning or anything, but we should keep an eye on this user just to watch for similar behavior in the future. The main thing here is maturity, I think, as it's completely okay to disagree or dislike staff decisions; one just has to be mature about it.

Supporting all of this in terms of keeping an eye on PowerTower, but to be fair, the exact purpose and role of the "Complaints" thread could stand to be clarified. I could see an open-minded person seeing "a guy was mean to me on the site" as "a complaint about the site". I mean, interpreting it as being mean is ridiculous, but if I saw it that way, I wouldn't think that thread was a crazy place to bring it up.

That links to the O5 page. Once we update the Guide to Newbies or create new Teams documentation on the site proper, I'll edit the link again to link to that (or someone else can do it if they catch it first).

User made an unnecessary edit to SCP-439, changing 'semitranslucent' to 'semi-translucent'. While perhaps an acceptable alternative spelling, the pre-edit spelling is correct and didn't need to be altered. Reverted and sent them a PM:

Hi there,

My name is Crayne and I'm Junior Staff here on the wiki. I've reverted your edit to SCP-439. Semitranslucent is a correct spelling of that word. While "semi-translucent" might also be acceptable, the edit was unnecessary. Please keep in mind that even if a word looks off to you, it might still be spelled correctly. Thank you. :)

…but you're Captain of the Forum Critique Team, so while I don't want to discourage a concern for boundaries (helps with drama avoidance), you can enforce the rules of the Help Forum, in the Help Forum.

[That's actually why you have the power to edit posts, and not just edit pages, which is the only thing a moderator on Technical needs.]

Another admin can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you're fine.

I don't mind staff handing out warnings or informing people that they've broken rules. Especially in a case like this, where it's really your bailiwick. Even if it wasn't in drafts, so long as you make a post here about it and inform a member of discipline, we should be cool.

I'm not here to play crappy puzzle games. If I could, I'd downvote it again for the gimmick.

Given that this is behavior that has apparently been consistent over 4 years, we may need to bump this up to disciplinary soon.

I'll lose a lot of sleep over that one…

The guy above me ("The Dud) posted yesterday, and his thread is FULL of feedback. So excuse me for being annoyed that I was getting no reception aside "Will comment on this".

Of note, the author the thread that is references was extremely polite and pleasant to work with.
