As some of you know, I'm interested in promoting more operators.
I am concerned about 'too many cooks in the kitchen', but I have observed there are also many, many times where we could use a few extra hands, particularly given that some of the op roster are already less active.
To start things off, I am promoting two more operators: Zyn and Photosynthetic. Both users are only occasionally in 19, but when they do, they give a LOT of input. People also tend to find their opinions valuable on chat matters even though they are not currently operators, and as it happens, so do I.
If you have any other recommendations for adding operators, please feel free to PM me on IRC or on wikidot. I do have a number of specific people in mind to possibly promote (some of them know, some of them don't), and not everyone is getting promoted even if I like them a lot, but recommendations are always welcome.
A couple notes, though:
- Preference to people who are more active.
- Zyn & Photo are exceptions to this rule. In Zyn's case, she can be very active on school breaks, and is often available in staff chat to be called in as backup. In Photo's case, she is very active in short bursts when she's able to sign on IRC, and talks in 19 more than even staff chat (even I talk in staff chat more than 19!), and also tends to be on at 'peak hours' when a backup is welcome.
- In other words, if you suggest other exceptions, this is the standard I'm looking to aim for.
- Zyn is one of our two most active moderators (currently) and Photo is an administrator. However, I am NOT taking wiki status into question when selecting people. Recommendations of non-staff users are more than welcome.
EDIT: I also forgot to mention — I have restored Sorts to his previous position of operator (he lost it when his nick expired). Even though he still can't be very active, his input is valued and he still gives it.
