User Captain Cain has made substantial edits to at least two SCPs: the soon-to-be deleted 1284 (otherwise known as the rape cheese) and SCP-022-J. Both of these edits are very substantial in nature, and basically consist of a rewrite of the material in question (an O5 note in the former, and a whole paragraph in the latter.)

Zyn, who brought this to my attention, is currently checking his history for more changes and is reverting in the absence of anything that appears to be author permission, and Roget is drafting a PM to send to him which will be posted in this thread.

Just finished going through the edits… the others are minor (fixing punctuation in the Et Tam Deum Petivi Hub Page, adding link to an article mentioned in SCP-239, and adding stuff to Bright's list).

He's also the guy who asked a serious question on the Ask the Person Above You a Question thread:

I'm guessing he's just not very familiar with the site, and just needs to be pointed in the right direction.

Also related, he asked me for help on the psychology of sadism/sociopathy for a draft he's apparently working on. He was polite and seemed well-intentioned. I'm willing to chalk this up to newbie-ness.

VAE PMed me, saying "the edit Captain Cain made to 022-J , as far as I notice actually consists of minor formatting change only. It's just wikidot reacting to change in paragraphing by considering the whole chunk to have been rewritten."

I'm going to busy for the next few hours, so could someone look into this? But as Drewbear said, probably just newbie-ness.

I apologize, I didn't mean to make any edits that were radical enough to warrant contacting the author, though in retrospect I see I got carried away; most were meant to be minor grammatical changes. I can promise it won't happen again, and again, I apologize. I especially didn't want to make waves or upset anyone as a new and unestablished member.

Made edits to SCP-1459 that changed British spellings to American spellings. On top of that, included as his edit message

organisations -> organizations authorised -> authorized What's wrong with the letter 'Z', bro? 'Z''s your friend. Respect it. Respect the letter 'Z', dude. Because if you don't, I'm coming for you.

I know he's just fucking around, but I didn't care for it. PM'd him the following:

You recently made several edits to SCP-1459 that altered spelling from British standard usage (organisations, authorised, defence) to American standard usage (organizations, authorized, defense). Either spelling is correct and the author's decision to use British standard spelling is well within authorial discretion. Please do not make such alterations in the future without permission from the author or staff. This is to be considered an official warning. Because the other matter for which you were warned in April was in error, this is the first such warning.
