SCP Steam Workshop Licensing

I was made aware of a map being shared on Steam Workshops with wiki assets. Evidently the author has said nothing about it being an SCP-themed map on the description, though a fair number of the comments have asked about it being related.

I'll send them a message about using the creative commons license and attribution, just to give them a head's up.

Semi-related, but I'm just… baffled by how people keep using our stuff without attribution. I mean, it's pretty well-known that we're sticklers for that, although we won't/can't prevent you from using/selling stuff based on us. And their targetted audience knows this too. It's just… why not take the extra 30 seconds to add attribution up front?

Yeah, it's a shame because the attribution is so goddamn easy. It's not legal hurdles, it's a framework that lets you use our stuff without even asking us provided you're willing to take on that same framework. I guess that is what gets people hung up, they want to use whatever they want and zealously protect it from everyone else doing unto them?

The description has since been updated. I think it should be okay.

The attribution works, but by all rights he still needs to license his derivative work as Creative Commons.

We've got the layman's terms on every page, if http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ doesn't explain it well enough another guide won't

I think the issue is just that we are actually pursuing it. People are used to just not thinking about using things, so even though our license was specifically designed to allow them a way to do so without getting bit the fact that we bother to bring the license up at all has people walking on tip toe instead of reading the license.

The author has decided to remove the related content instead, due to a few other happenings. No problem at all, anymore.
