Got a PM from someone going by the name Austin Kaufman.
Hi, I'm austin, I was wondering if I could have your permission to use the SCPs on your site in order to make a book. If I can, I'll send you a short paragraph about it. If you want to respond, please send a reply to [E-mail Redacted], thank you for your time reading this message.
I replied as follows:
Austin,
I don't mind you writing a book based on my work, per se. However, please keep in mind what the CC license means in this case. Our Licensing Guide explains this pretty well. The big thing in this case is that you need to understand that your work will inherit the same license. That means other people will be allowed to copy and make derivatives based on your work. If you're planning on releasing this to make money, then that's likely to make things a bit more difficult for you.
Also, keep in mind that while I am the Master Admin on the wiki, I'm still just one writer (I'm not even the head admin; I have MA for technical reasons). While you don't have to get anyone's permission to use material on the wiki (provided you follow all provisions of the license), if you want to get permission, you'll have to contact the individual authors directly. If you're okay with all of this, then by all means give me more details.
