Another from Grace. Seems to explain the entire reason behind all this animosity.
Sent PM to both of them. Prof. Hiro did not send a reply, but Dr.Kim replied that if Prof. Hiro doesn't act aggressive, he won't respond. I should say first that Prof.Hiro is not the wiki.
Although some people had harsh problems with Dr.Kim, it isn't Korean wiki who hates Dr.Kim.
I'm suspecting this is not only because what Dr.Kim had done, but more of a personal hatred between users. To say, wiki did have problems with Dr.Kim, but wiki itself does not hate Dr.Kim, or act hostile.
I've told Devanos (and which he will pass to other users) that unless Dr.Kim is following the rules, we really can't stop him and we don't have to. And I've been telling them to stop posting these issues on the main site. (hopefully there won't be such massive arguments anymore)
But yes. To start with the License problem, as Prof Hiro said, Dr. Kim wasn't actually depicting the CCL. I sent about this to Dr.Kim
several times before and in various ways(PM, posting on his personal site, leaving posts, etc) and somehow every time he either managed not to see it or ignored it. I think that's the reason Devanos posted it on the license page discussion.
Few months ago, there were two fansites in Korea. Dr.Kim's personal blog and SCP Korea HQ, which is the former site of Korean wiki.
Dr.Kim was interested in our articles and contacted with us about it, saying that he wanted to post some good Korean-made articles
on his blog. But we were not that sure about that issue, and agreed to vote on it in our site. Dr. Kim said he will prepare the introduction, and promised he will send it to us afterwards. While we were preparing the vote(and waiting for his article), Dr.Kim made another community by himself and never contacted to us after that. When we found that out, we were confused but just went on with.
Few weeks after, Dr.Kim declared on his site that his site was successfully on the main wiki. And it turned out that he had changed the
main by himself. We were already thinking that he were ignoring other translators, as I said before, there were more translations in HQ and a lot more in Angelhiro wiki. So me and Devanos sent a message to you, and had a conversation with Dr.Kim. And it went pretty well, we agreed on going together, and Dr.Kim had actually said to "live together." Of course, there was a misunderstanding here. We took that term as uniting with each other.
He meant that term as just… get on what we were doing, and stop interfering with each other. But there were no problem. We just went on-
Dr.Kim and HQ didn't both have a proper wiki community. So we made a wikidot hosted community and moved people to there. Which, few days after, we found out the message Dr.Kim had sent. It was in the O5 site, a user had linked that page to us. We were enraged of his action(mainly of what he said), and officially declared that the Korean wiki site and HQ would be hostile with Dr.Kim and his blog. We asked for explanation of his action. Aand…..
yeah, to say, I don't think this was a good idea to both of us. Dr.Kim said he will apologize, so we should just send him what he had done wrong in PM.
And no one took that as a sign of peace. (It's kind of cultural, I think. Asian countries think one's 'attitude' and 'manners' are very
important. Asking for what he have done wrong when it is clearly stated around the site is considered as ignorant manner.)So we did send him what he had done, and Dr.Kim went and erased the whole thing of his site, refusing further explanation. Personally I think this was the peak of our conflict, because afterwards he did that action(erasing everything) whenever he found things he don't like.
In another aspect, our action was very sudden and Dr.Kim could have been upset. At that point, we were both disappointed with each other. So there might be a hostility at that point.
But suddenly, (in my perspective) it began to turn into personal hatred, between Devanos and Dr.Kim. I had a collision with Dr.Kim between translation matters about 682, and it was going pretty harsh. And suddenly, Devanos banned Dr.Kim, warned me, and went away. We didn't know that Dr.Kim was permanently banned. After we knew that, we argued to Devanos of it. Few weeks after, Devanos gave up admin.
So afterwards, there were no further problems, except this incident. But I still don't know why Prof.Hiro is acting crazy against Dr.Kim. Korean wiki did had some harsh problems with Dr.Kim, but it has already passed. I don't find any reason to act hostile against Dr. Kim, if he keeps the rule. But all these incidents above had happened before Prof. Hiro joined to our wiki. I will settle this matter with Prof. Kim as soon as he show up. Thank you for listening to our problem. If anything related with us happen in wiki again, please let me know. I will try my best not to get you guys involved in some crazy personal problems again.
Happy chinese new year!
I sent a return message thanking her for explaining it, and appreciating the work she did.
