I received a PM today.
Good morning, Dr. EverettMann
It's a pleasure for me to write this message to you :) I'm reading your site of the SCP foundation documents from a lot of time.
However, I'm writing this message to inform you that, just like Russian, French, Korean and Chinese version, we're trying to work on the Italian brench of the SCP Foundation. I don't know if we need a special permission to proceed, if so, could you please give us the approval to start working on the Italian version? Thanks for the attention to this message, Doctor.
It is an honor to work on these documents.Best regards,
Salvo.
I responded thusly:
Splendid news!
You don't need permission, as such, but you do need to make sure you're posting things under the rules of the Creative Commons Sharealike license we operate under. The Licensing Guide gives you the run-down. The big thing is that you have to link back and give proper credit to the author. So, for example, if you were posting SCP-423, you'd post a link back to it, and list the author (found using the History tool at the bottom of the page). And of course yours must be posted under the same license. If you use Wikidot, this is automatic.
Also, if you eventually want to be linked on the front page with other sites, our standards are simple: You must show that you have a reasonably active community, and you must start generating your own content in addition to translation.
That's pretty much all you need to know. Follow the Licensing Guide and you'll be fine. Good luck, sir, and I hope to see great things from you and yours!
