Dezon applied with the following:

I am 15 and live in Sweden. I want join becouse my mother died and i have no family left.

It's being turned down for the obvious reasons but there's a part of my head that really thinks the drama level here should be a Never Accept situation, am I being too harsh? Either it's true and he's going to blow up, or it's not true and he's that bad.

Nah, if we let them in in spite of the failure to, y'know, fulfill the application requirements in any way, shape, or form, it would be out of pity. And when we start letting people break the rules out of pity, it's gonna be hard to stop. We can let them in when they get the app right.

look I actually think it is pretty fine for users to tell us about their personal life (disagreeing with Bright's - and others' - comments elsewhere) but putting something like that in your application to join the site is a bridge too far

I would count that under the auto-deny pile.

For posterity's sake, the subject of my PM to him was "Suicide Prevention Hotlines", and the body was as follows:

Hi. I'm a member of the staff at the SCP Foundation wiki, and your recent application greatly concerned me. I've personally been struggling with suicidal ideations since I was a small child, and I know how scary it is to feel like you're alone in the world. I was able to find two suicide prevention hotlines in Sweden. Please call one before you do anything drastic. They can help you.

(I've been lucky enough that my symptoms are currently very well-suppressed by medication, but I'm not a doctor, and I don't know his situation, so I decided to err on the side of "let the professionals handle telling him about medication".)
