Posting on behalf of Modern_Erasmus.
Recently we had a conversation regarding the separation between site and chat.
Almost unanimously, people agreed in the end that the separation is more trouble than good and would be good to alter or remove, so as to give us a better handle on discipline when members are negatively affecting one or the other, or both.
Modern_Erasmus, creator of the above thread, worked out a new addition to the current rules with consulting administrator
thedeadlymoose. The current wording that they propose is as thus;
Users who receive permanent or year long site or chat bans can have their cases reviewed by the chatop team or site disciplinary team respectively, who may decide to enact disciplinary measures if they feel it is warranted.
This new addition will be put in the SCP Wiki Site Rules, at the bottom in the Banning Policy. The section is currently worded like this;
Before being banned, you will usually be warned to tone down your behavior. If a staff member has to talk to you about your behavior or a mod post is made about your behavior, and you disregard it, then staff will move to the banning phase.
The most common way to receive a ban is by violating one of the rules mentioned above. Additional violations equal longer bans. An instant permanent ban only results from vandalism, blatant and obvious trolling, harassment of a site member, sockpuppetry, or other severe misconducts.
Which will then become…

I am asking for one vote. This is a Major Policy Change, and therefore will require a majority decision of those who vote to be implemented, and a minimum of 50% of active Staff participation, as per the Site Charter.
We have 9 Administrators, 13 Moderators, and 18 Operational staff active, with a number of Reserved staff as well. This equals 40 members plus; I will declare that we need a 60% majority for this to go through, with a minimum of 24 members to vote YES.
EDIT: Trets asked if Chat Operators can vote. Yes, Chat Operators within #Site19 may vote, even if they are not Operational Staff, Administrators, or Moderators. Half-Operators and Voiced members may not.
Junior Staff, Half-Operators, operators in channels other than #Site19 who are not operators in #Site19, and Voiced Site19 members are not welcome to vote on this matter. Apologies.
Here is the vote code.
