In Site19 this morning, we got a request from Areyoucrazytom, the admin of the Chinese SCP site, to link the Chinese site on our Main Page. According to him, their community is 150-200 users, and they do have a few of their own original SCPs, though they haven't posted them on their site yet (citing a desire to keep to the original site's standards). So let's have some opinions: shall we go ahead and link the Chinese site, and if not, how much more will they need to do before we would reconsider adding them? (I mean, I would imagine that they should put at least some original work up, but how much would be sufficient?)
I stand by my previous assertion: they need to be a writing site; not just a translating site.
If the main focus of the site is just on translating, then they're not doing what we are. They're just taking what we've done and modifying it into their language. Once they start posting them and getting other people to post them as well, then I'll feel comfortable linking to them. Not before.

More info, from 19:
[10:36] Quikngruvn All right, tom: http://05command.wikidot.com/forum/t-577722/request-to-link-scp-china-from-the-main-page
[10:37] Quikngruvn At the very least, you should go ahead and start putting your original SCPs up on your site. However you want to do that, of course.
[10:37] Areyoucrazytom ok .
[10:37] Areyoucrazytom maybe need time to collect them
[10:38] Quikngruvn OK, that's fine.
[10:38] Areyoucrazytom en
[10:38] Areyoucrazytom They must be english?
[10:38] Quikngruvn Oh, no. They can be in Chinese.
[10:39] Quikngruvn Like the Russians' original SCPs are in Russian.
[10:39] Areyoucrazytom Oh A big help the
So he's aware and looks like he'll get that process started.
Sounds good. Once they're done, then I'm 100% for linking them. Good work Chinese site!

Oh man. I hope he wasn't thinking we were requiring them to post their entries in English all this time. Heck, maybe they were thinking they had to post their entries here. Sigh. That makes it sound like they could've qualified for this a long time ago if they realized what they needed to do. Anyway yes, awesome that they're getting things together :D
I think we should link them now. They've been around for comparatively a little while (longer than the Koreans), and I thought we had a link to them already.
What Esko said. And I could swear that I HAD seen some original work on their site, just not in the same sub-forum where they post translations. Unfortunately, I can't really judge quality due to the hilarious Google translations getting in the way. (Seriously. Go read a G-translate of one of their translations of one of our SCPs. They can be damn funny.)

Awesome :) now add a News entry about it and post it in the Announcements forum! :P
The chinese link on the main page now 404's, is their site still up and just on a new page, or have they disappeared off the face of the earth?
Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!
Since they do, in fact, appear to have disappeared from the face of the earth, I've removed the SCP-CN link from the front page. The translation site is down, and areyoucrazytom's wikidot account has not seen activity for the past 8 months.

Apparently their original ISP folded/disappeared, and they've been rebuilding at http://www.scp-wiki-cn.org
There's also the original non-wiki forum here: http://scpfoundation.123ubb.com/f3-forum
I'm relinking on the mainpage.
