While I'm not a chat OP, nor am I particularly active in Site 19, I have taken the time to formulate an opinion:
First, some things I want to note, from the chat guide:
- "Being stupid or creepy" is an acceptable reason to ban someone if they've been at it for a while.
- Banning is acceptable if someone violates the guidelines to the extent that the chat would be better off without them.
So, the question becomes, A) is Ecks being creepy and/or stupid, and B) Would the chat be better off without him.
In regards to A, if people are being made uncomfortable, I'd say he's being creepy. Hell, even if people are more or less chill with it at any given time, I'd still call his flavor of discussion creepy. It could also be argued that the portion of his talking that is actually meaningful and/or conversational, rather than posting paheal links or talking about rape, is insufficient for what he's doing to be not-stupid. tl;dr he's being creepy and arguably stupid.
In regards to B, would the chat be better off without him? I don't know. Probably. He's sort of a part of site/chat culture, and some consider handling him as an "are you tough enough" test. On the other hand, are those things we want and need? Are they worth putting up with Ecks?
So, my opinion as, again, neither an OP nor a particularly active participant in Site 19, I'd say that Ecks could stand to go. Or change, but I honestly don't see him doing that.
