Sophosblitz has already been banned from admin chat for trolling and abusing his op. Now, he's taking it into 19 as well.

You guys have seen how sophos flips out whenever I make any post he disagrees with. Now, even regular users in 19 have begun to comment on it. Here's a log wherein he bans me for no reason, and the other ops have to step in.

This sort of absolute pettiness is not acceptable in a chat op. In fact, it's the reason I'm not a good chat op. Until today, reminding him to take things to waxx rather than being rash has worked. Now, though, I'm fairly certain he's just going to start inappropriately banning me for bullshit, and if he's that petty with me, he'll be that petty with others as well.

I realize I'm not chat staff, but I hope my standing on the wiki makes my opinion here count for something. This is an official vote of no confidence in sophosblitz as chat or wiki staff.

Yeah, i'm going to have to agree with this. As much as personal history with someone can affect decision making, it definately should not. Banning someone over a personal tiff is bad form indeed and with the over reactions and impulsiveness Sophos is prone to I would not be suprised if we saw more of this in the future. Though I don't pay much attention to his activities on the wiki, his disposition in the chat is one that should not be held by someone with OP power in my opinion.

Personal issues should not be factored in when making decisions of this nature, that much is clear. That said, this ultimately boils down to a personal issue between two users and is not characteristic of common behavior amongst the ops. Sophos is an otherwise good and trustworthy op who just had an off day; It's happened to the best of us, and it's happened to me as well. I've had them /ignore each other, and that should resolve it. No need to have a witch hunt.

I would like to make a post in my defense since some are insistent that I am biased in my op activities, and I feel that this has to be said in order to prevent further issues from arising with this user, and to give context in future discussions if any. This is a post that was being written for a long time, and I think something has to be said instead of sitting quietly in his favour because nobody wants to deal with it. I apologize for the long post in advance.

I would like to start off with the fact that I was not biased in my 24 hour ban of yoric and have been fully justified in issuing it, and that it should not have been removed immediately by another op because it was not their call to remove it. Despite allegations by some, I am also not an impulsive person who overreacts at all especially when it comes to moderating #site19.

If a user, who has super long track record of being very disruptive in chat and occasionally on the wiki, returns from a permaban I would expect his behaviour to have improved after an unban especially with a record like his. If an old person like Kondraki or Fish or just any nob in particular whom everybody agreed to bring back from a permaban from the chat behaved just as Yoric has in the same way towards a single person, no-one would be disagreeing with the ban. In fact, we still ban the aforementioned two veterans on a regular basis when they return to see how the waters are since their departure.

General Principles

• When in doubt, apply Wheaton's Law: Wheaton's law states, quite simply, "Don't be a dick." So if you're doing something, and it makes you a dick? Don't do it. That covers 90% of everything in the rules below.

I've just been a large target that Yoric and Bright have been slinging insults at non-stop for something Yoric did back in admin chat (He issues an insult, I tell him off, he REPORTS TO BRIGHT), and the op abuse allegations are very bogus because I had the balls to stand up to his incessant abuse-noteworthy kicking sprees in admin chat, but that's a separate issue. I got over it as a mis-understanding on Bright's part and moved on with my life. The administrative chat is Bright's private channel and what he does with it is his business.

clearly decided to continue in #site19 for who knows how long]. For pointless petty things in which he usually doesn't resort to unprovoked insults to discuss with other people, almost like as if he turned into the kind of person he insults for having a one-track mind; __even occasionally on the wiki a couple of times. Any other staff member would've been demoted or booted from the ranks in a heartbeat for the "friendly ribbing".

is very immature and unprofessional from both Bright and Yoric. They're the ones making up the face of the wiki community and that's how they act in public. In fact, that's been the core of the issue the whole time since Bright's running the show without Gears around, and keeping Yoric to his side. Yoric's been just getting the Dr. House treatment where everybody's just used to his condescending asshole attitude towards everyone and just keep him around because he's an eager useful grunt on the wiki and has been around for years. Then when someone tells him off nicely, it becomes "starting drama", "can't keep personal issues to self", and "vote of no confidence". I have been feeling that I've been unfairly lynched on his behalf by a lot of the Senior Staff and senior members when it comes to this issue. I was never the instigator. Yoric was.
If Yoric wants to stay around as Senior Staff that other users can look to for guidance, he should learn to behave accordingly with his new responsibility, especially in the chat. House's behaviour was only cool on TV. I've done my part in putting up with it, it's time for the other side to stop. None of this "Sophos is a baby because Yoric hurt his feelings" nonsense.

I've done my best to keep the Yoric problem out of #site19 (and its subchannels), the wiki, and lastly 05command. I wanted to keep this personal grudge from him to stay personal but I guess Yoric (at Bright's suggestion) just can't leave his personal feelings at home.
But hopefully, today would be the final time Yoric brings up his childish vendetta in public as agreed to during Waxx's mediation. <housekeeping edit: see below>

Yoric promised to stop this childish nonsense forever (not explicitly though), and I will let him continue his activities in #site19 in ignorance like I do with every other user unless op intervention is needed. #site19 is crazy enough as it is.
This is the first and final post I am making on the issue. I've been sick of this from Day 1 and I doubt I'm the only one. I verily hope that it won't be brought up again (or be an issue again), and or that this won't lead into a long tirade of ad hominems.

Also, I have never been Senior Staff as far as I know. I have been a member of 05 for a long time because back in the day Bright believed that my voice deserved to heard w.r.t. staff discussions. I have yet to have something published on the wiki and/or wasn't recommended so I neither wanted nor deserved a staff title so far; I just give my take on wiki matters. This vote to impeach me as "wiki staff" is pointless.

Since this "vote of no confidence" has been made in error from a knee-jerk emotional reaction by Yoric, I propose that we stop this dumb vote, forget it ever happened and (hopefully) never need to bring up the whole issue again (I suggest locking the thread). We've wasted enough hours already.

On what Sophos said, I just want to mention that we've banned popular and highly successful members of senior staff before- Kon and Fish. If we ever need to ban anyone else on staff, I'm confident that we'll do so.
That said, I'm with Waxx here, this seems like a personal issue. Keep the /ignore on and move on.
