After further review by the community and by staff, I think that we are now in as good a place as we'll ever be to resume this vote. A few things will be different. I've got more options up here and this will be done via the Alternative Vote, also known as instant runoff voting. Everyone will list their choices from the options here, from most preferred to least preferred. Once that is done, if no one option has a majority, the least popular one will be eliminated and the votes cast until we have a consensus. this video explains in more detail.
To give an idea of the level of community buy-in, we have had overwhelming support from all of our social media sites. When polled on the wiki our authors gave us extremely positive feedback on the concept. An official poll that was run over the weekend came back with over 300 votes with 63.75%, almost 200 of the votes, going strongly in favor. 80 votes said they agreed with adding, and only around 10% of the votes disagreed at all. The community wants this, and they want it badly.
I have not included proposals like the Niblic sidebar one which would not work consistently across platforms, or have other stability issues. If folks wish to vote for these options, please list so here and why you think it's worthwhile even though it will not work on mobile and/or may have other consistency issues. I have also not included any kind of opt-out option, I don't think this will work unless it's standardized and mandated across all articles. This is for the same reason we don't let people use the old image formatting or tag their own articles. It should be in staff hands so it can be consistent across all articles. Having navigation elements wildly differ across different articles is a bad idea if we want people to be able to use these.
Remember to list all of these options in the order of most liked to most disliked, 1-7, and give any reasoning you might have for selecting any of them in whichever order you choose to do so. If you don't like an option, you can leave it blank to not vote in favor of it at all.
1. Integration of the Voting Module and Back/Next buttons as seen here. This would congregate all OOC UI elements in an elegant fashion. There is no link to the hub here as of the time of this writing but I have been assured that it would not be difficult to add.
2. The above formatting, sans the integration of the rating module.
3. The back/hub/next format from the SCP-2600 example. This can also appear in or outside of a box depending on how Technical Team feels it would be best implemented.
4. Option 3, with the integration of a rating module and other UI elements folded into it as appeared in option 1.
5. One of the above options, or a different one, but linked from the top of the page instead of the bottom page. An example of how this might look can be found here.
6. I agree with the idea of having back/next buttons but none of these options appeal to me.
7. I am against mandating back/next buttons as part of the format.
None of these designs are completely final, as minor details may be adjusted depending on what makes it easiest to implement, but I feel that these summarize all of the viable options which have been presented to the community.
