So as part of WikiWalk, we've had conversations about ways to improve content navigating. A lot of stuff like the side/top bars, new background pages, and site dossier have been part of that trend but I think adding back/next buttons to the standard SCP format would be a fantastic way to bind our content together. I remember anqxyr saying it wouldn't be a hassle for Jarvis to add them to existing articles, but if that's not the case then doing it by hand wouldn't be impossible. I'm thinking the best place would be above the rating module since that's an explicitly ooc element and wouldn't hurt immersion there.
Pros:
- No SCP article would exist in a void. It would be theoretically possible to get to any mainlist article from any other.
- Archive binging would be much easier for our fans and might lead to greater recognition of content that's currently buried.
- Won't be immersion breaking if it's above the rating module.
Cons:
- Could be a pain in the butt to get people to use it correctly and in an attractive way.
- EX J and other non main list articles won't be helped by this idea.
- If we rely on Jarvis for it that's just one more thing we'll need a bot for. But I think once the initial archive is done and it's a standard part of the SCP format I don't think that'll be an issue.
Shout-out to Sirens for saying something and getting me mulling on this issue. I'd really like to hear what you guys think. If we all agree on something this'd be put to a vote and, should it pass, be added to the standard SCP format.
The formatting of the link itself would be something like this on an article like, say, SCP-3000:
=
**<< [SCP-2999] | [ Series IV Hub] | [SCP-3001] >>**
/=
Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!
