This has motion has passed with a majority of 21 votes for, none against.
This vote is a result of the discussion here. The purpose of this vote is to reaffirm our Image Policy and expand the authority of Operational Staff in dealing with potential problems resulting from the neglect of this policy.
If approved, this will only affect articles that are posted after the changes have been confirmed by vote. Articles posted with unsourced images prior to this being confirmed by vote will continue to be handled by the image team's current policies.
1: New articles are required to list the source of any images used in the article itself on the article's discussion page. This source must be compatible with the site's current license.
2: Operational Staff and above will utilize both a staff post on the discussion page of the article and a Wikidot PM to the author to inform them of either non-sourced images or images that are incompatible with the site license.
3: If the image remains in violation of our images policy 48 hours after completing Step 2, the image code will be edited out of the article by a member of staff. The author will receive a Wikidot PM from Operational Staff to inform them of this change to their article and that they may not replace the image until it adheres to our current site Image Policy.
Following this vote's approval we will announce these changes to enforcement of our images policy on the front page. We will move information on our image use policy on the "site rules" guide under behavior from the "posting" entry to a nested entry under "plagiarism" to drive home the importance of proper sourcing with the following text:
"Remember, images included in your article must follow the rules of our images policy as well. You must include the source of your images on the discussion page, and this source must be in compliance with our site policy and license. If you have any questions, contact the images team."
This vote is restricted to operational staff and above. Please, simply vote in favor of or against this.
