So currently we have three Writing Help forums:
General Advice
Ideas and Brainstorming
Drafts and Critiques
A lot of Foundation universe writing resources/discussions (the "SCPs and IQs" thread, the "compulsions and addictions" thread) are in General Advice, with a couple things stickied there for ease of reference. A lot of those are lost in the shuffle of other threads asking simple questions about stuff like working the sandbox or chat.
I'd like to have a new forum for writers to hold open discussions about writing for the Foundation'verse (maybe we'll stick it in Foundation Universe?) and doing background research to use real-life knowledge to make in-universe articles sound professional. Strategies, tips, personal experiences, that sort of thing. A lot of newer writers often don't do their fact-checking, and I'd like to have a repository of discussions for people to get a feel for just how much thought goes into the scientific plausibility part of writing an SCP article (or tale!).
Basically, what distinguishes this forum from the writing help forums is that the discussions in the new forum essentially can continue indefinitely, while the writing help threads do have a set "finish" (i.e., someone's question is given a satisfactory answer, or they receive feedback to progress in the writing process).
Quick guide: go to writing help if you need help. Go to [new forum] if you'd like to discuss/learn about some real-life aspects of writing for the Foundation in an open exploration Socratic seminar kind of way.
Also, if we get the new forum up, I'd like "General Advice" to be renamed something like "Questions Desk" or the like.
Thoughts? Also, ideas for the new forum name? I was thinking "Writers' Circle" or something with "circle" in the name.
ETA: oh if this new forum becomes a thing I'll handle the thread migrations because I love organizing things like forum threads
