I just made this page because I think it's something that we ought to have, but don't. What I have in mind are the cases where the initial reason for the page lock is no longer applicable, and haven't been in a while, but the lock remains because no one can remember the original reason for it.

So, if you're locking a new page, or encounter a locked page that isn't on the list, please edit this page accordingly.

This is a very very minor, very low-priority issue.

Would we list the "famous" pages here? 173 and 682, for example, are locked because they're frequent targets for vandalism and unauthorized edits. Some other articles are the same case, with staff post notices about the page lock "due to repeated unauthorized (or malicious) edits".

Also, I've locked some of my own pages as well after they've gotten vandalized. Should I put those on the list as well?

I think it'd be a good idea, yes. I can't think of drawbacks to it, at least. It's not like having them on the list would draw the attention of vandals to them - they're already locked, nothing is going to happen to them.

Also having a policy of "list all locked pages here" is much better than "list all locked pages here, unless A, B, or C while D but not E", imo.

My general policy for mainsite articles in general is "if it's gotten vandalized/unauthorized edits have been made twice, lock it". If it's something newer and the author is still active, I send them a PM letting them know about the lock and asking if they'd prefer it not to be locked.

Does anyone know if page creators can still edit their own locked pages, even if they're not mods/admins?

I strongly support logging all of the locked pages here, regardless of reason.

Adding the usertools page, since there are downloads to internet browser add-ons. Also, recent unauthorized edit. Please let me know if there are objections.

Jarvis is currently adding nav links to all unlocked skips. The locked ones will have to be unlocked, edited, and re-locked later.

I propose not re-locking any pages that aren't on this list. If the reason for the initial lock is still relevant, then it'll come up eventually and we can re-lock it then, and properly record the lock here this time. If the reason is obsolete, then the page will remain unlocked.

Any objections?

You don't have to unlock a page to edit it in. If you're capable of unlocking the page, you can just manually edit the things without even unlocking it. Since you'll need to go through to do the unlocks anyway, you might as well just edit the pages instead, I think?

As for the underlying problem, I think we oughta continue this discussion: http://05command.wikidot.com/forum/t-2060728 and come to a conclusion on it (yes it has strong support from the people who posted, but there's not a lot of input there), rather than tack it on during the nav edits.
