Disciplinary - elitegamer010

Decibelles 12 Dec 2016 18:30

elitegamer010 posted a -J called SCP-2016-J (in a mainlist slot no less) and posted in the discussion:

here's my a -J i made hope you like it.

Except that, as someone linked on reddit very shortly before this -J went up, this was written by HappyLittleRadishes as a silly comment on AskReddit. I PM'd them to confirm they weren't elitegamer, especially since they claimed not to ever write an SCP before. The reply back:

I am NOT elitegamer010. That being said I wouldn't mind if he posted it while crediting me but he's claiming it as his own so fuck that guy :)

Starting a ban vote for plagiarism. Vince flagged.

I received the following ban appeal from the user:

I was banned from the SCP wiki on the 12th of December 2016. My offense was that I committed plagiarism by posting a comment on Reddit as a -J article without giving credit to the original author. I am sincerely sorry for this offense and I do not intend to repeat it. I wish to rejoin the website.

I commented in Disc-ord but I think that this offense was such a long time ago, with a comparatively minor permaban offense, that I am inclined to accept it. If they maintain good behavior I am fine with them on site. See update below.

I'm in agreement. It's been a long time and the appeal is acceptable for me.

Thirding. The appeal is acceptable, as is the time served.

In light of the new evidence provided below, I am rescinding this acceptance.

Some new information has come to light about this individual and their activity since their ban here.

They have been active on RPC for some time, and are currently a member of its site, its sandbox, and its Wanderer's Library-like site. While there, they have worked on concerning material, such as your typical pro-deus vult material.

Additionally, there is a link to their Discord account, where they have engaged in inappropriate behavior:

+ Draft of RPC article

+ Deletion log in RPC's discord

+ Link between discord and wikidot accounts

+ CW: Racism, antisemitism, racial slurs

Considering all this, I feel we should rescind our acceptance of the appeal. I am voting against lifting the ban for elitegamer010. I believe the present ban should remain in force.

I would also like to apologize for my role in this, as I considered only their appeal and the information in this thread instead of also checking their Wikidot user history.

I think there's clear consensus to decline the appeal. I've sent them the following message:

Hello, thank you for your appeal. We have reviewed your case and determined that we are not lifting your ban. You can see your disciplinary thread here: http://05command.wikidot.com/forum/t-2029160/disciplinary-elitegamer010
