Mann got in touch with the powers-that-be at Wikidot, and coming soon, all deleted votes will be cleared from the wiki. This does not change any existing policy concerning deleted votes, as new ones can still come into existence, but this service has been extended and appears to be something we can request again in the future if need be.

Call it my paranoia, but Wikidot is simply doing something to remove votes, and not all things by deleted accounts, right? It seems like a too-easy option for someone to run a "purge on all things deleted," which would of course remove several popular works (including all of Kalinin's older stuff).

Based on the fact that there are no (account deleted) votes on -173 or -647, and that -186 is still standing (and the history shows (account deleted) as the author of Rev 1), I'd say this already happened, and the content is safe.

Comments by deleted accounts also stand right now.

This is, essentially, completely perfect, in that case. Account deleted votes are our only concern; everything else is easily reverted or deleted/blanked by staff.

There's a thread on the forums about the change. Vote counters won't update unless someone votes/removes a vote on an article.

It's been suggested that I have jarvis upvote every article, and then cancel his vote, in order to update the displayed ratings. I'm not currently certain that this is something worth doing, seeing as it may involve unforeseen complications, and the current rating fluctuations don't real mean much, and will settle down in time on their own.

That said, I'd like to hear other staff's thoughts on whether this is something worth doing.

To be honest, this is so low-priority that the danger of complication means I'd say this means no.

Other staff may disagree, though.

Regarding the fluctuations, it is a one-time thing for a given article. It may have some users feel surprised by the fluctuations and it is probable they think of it as a glitch. It may cause slight confusion, but they are minor.

We can note this fluctuation on the forum thread (in the site) about the clearing of deleted votes, so that confused users can at least be directed to a reason to the fluctuation.
