A user or users has been joining, deleting account, recreating account, and downvoting SCPs in an effort to game the system to eliminate as many SCPs as possible (or at least remove them from Recently Created).
Recently I noticed them joining at 17:38, 17:43, 17:48, 17:52, and 17:56. I'm told they were targeting some newer SCPs on the ratings borderline.
As this qualifies as an emergency, for now, I've reverted the application process to require users to send in an application, and unchecked the box to allow Secret Password.
Please note the current application process only asks people to send us the password, and that's all.
Also note that this isn't going to solve the problem overall. Mann made a post here asking that Wikidot remove "account deleted" votes from ratings. We received a reply saying that the Wikidot devs might look into it.
We should discuss how we're going to handle this long-term.
