Agent Fiber recently got their membership revoked upon posting the following comment to a low-quality tale rated in the negative twenties:

This is a very good article. Give it a week.
All you guys do is delete articles an hour after they are posted. Don't be fagits. This is unique! Give it a while and dont camp the fuckin forums looking for low rated articles. You guys are impatient fucks.

They got the usual staff PM about revocation, please read the rules, etc. Furthermore, several site members responded to that comment noting how the deletion process and the review system of the site work.

I got the following PM today:

Welp. I had a good run. But hey. I dont give a sh*t.
Stop camping the low rated articles and giving them such little time. Listen , a lot more articles will be familiarized if they have more time than an hour , giving them little time to be familiarized.

Given their history, and the fact that they still don't understand how deletions work (we have that timer for a reason), recommending ban. I'm thinking at least a month, if not perma.

After reviewing, I'd like to also advocate for a ban. A month is my first inclination but we can go to perma if other people prefer; other than his slur his biggest crimes are that he really has not bothered to familiarize himself with this site's culture and obviously hasn't read our deletions policy. He walks in on the defensive and assumes Teh Administration are out to crush noobs.

The inexplicably misspelled slur is also a factor in his discipline here. He seems like he's in the low teens and obviously hasn't actually spent time around any half-decent communities before. Not an excuse, but it isn't doing him any favours.

This guy's a jackass, but I don't see any reason to jump all the way straight to perma.

I think using a slur on someone (as an insult) is a sufficient reason. Not mandatory, but sufficient.

[Clarification with counter-examples: While this hasn't come up in years, I wouldn't support an instant permanent ban for 4chan style "hey faggots" or calling something (not a person) "retarded", as much as both those examples are offensive both personally and generally.]

This reminds me of this unresolved discussion. Namely: 24 / 2 or 7 days / FOREVER is not a very useful ban acceleration.

That aside…

My default view of every newbie is that they should be cut a lot of slack. That they're a potentially excellent member, regardless of how shitty their coldpost or how clueless their first comments are.

But when someone is this aggressively useless and offensive to boot, then my view switches. Someone who casually says "Don't be fagits" is going to have no problem saying worse in the next few posts, and someone who doubles down on such foolishness isn't interested in making any sort of useful contribution. We aren't obligated to force the rest of our userbase to deal with someone like that because of standard ban acceleration.

If this person expressed any sort of interest in doing better, literally any, then I would be saying just go with a short ban (albeit of a week, because that's a sensible length for a short ban in my opinion).

Instead, they doubled down.

So yeah, I'm fine with a perma.

That said, they haven't even rejoined and may not plan to, so…

That's three (technically four, since I can support both perma and monthlong) for perma, one for month, one for 48 hours to a week.

I'd like to say at this point, go with perma. They can appeal when they've cooled down.
