This was the first documented instance in which Foundation personnel entered the suspected territory, detected indications of SCP-XXXX's presence and **successfully withdrew without direct engagement**.
++ Incident -06-C
A three-person unarmed environmental survey team was conducting daytime measurements near the suspected interior boundary of SCP-XXXX's territory when one member was briefly separated from the others by approximately 18 m.
At 1456 H, the separated individual reported seeing a large black humanoid figure standing approximately 30 m away among the trees.
The remaining personnel did not observe the entity.
The individual immediately withdrew toward the team.
No attack occurred.
However, environmental sensors recorded an unexplained loss of approximately **4.7 seconds of continuous data** from several independent devices simultaneously.
No equivalent failure was observed elsewhere during the survey.
The event remains under investigation.
+ Foundation Assessment
Following Incidents -06-A through 06-C, Foundation researchers revised the behavioral classification of SCP-XXXX.
The evidence strongly suggests that SCP-XXXX possesses a **defined territorial range centered around the Ritigala region**.
More significantly, the Foundation has determined that the previously documented pattern associated with civilian encounters cannot be assumed to apply when SCP-XXXX is confronted by organized groups or when its territory is deliberately penetrated.
Historical encounters generally followed a recurring sequence:
**Encounter → memory loss → spinal trauma → seven-day deterioration → death**
Direct Foundation encounters have demonstrated a substantially different response.

**Location:** Ela Kanda Beach, Wattala, Gampaha District, Sri Lanka
**Victim:** Chinese national, male, 26 years old
The most recent confirmed incident associated with SCP-XXXX occurred in **2021**, approximately [REDACTED] years after the deaths of MTF Unit XXXX during Incident XXXX-06-A.
The victim was a 26-year-old Chinese national who had entered Sri Lanka as a tourist and had been travelling throughout the country for approximately three weeks.
At approximately **0500 hours**, a local fisherman discovered the victim lying unconscious on **Ela Kanda Beach**, Wattala.
The fisherman contacted emergency services. The victim was subsequently transported to **Ragama General Hospital** by a nearby emergency medical team.
++ Initial Medical Examination
The victim was found to have sustained extensive trauma to the **upper back, shoulders and cervical region**.
Medical personnel documented:
* Multiple fractures and severe disruption to the upper vertebrae.
* Significant damage to the cervical spine.
* Severe soft-tissue trauma.
* Extensive neurological impairment.
* Extreme pain upon regaining consciousness.
* Large **black hand-shaped markings** surrounding the damaged area of the upper back.
The dimensions of the marks were inconsistent with those of a normal human hand.
No conventional weapon or instrument capable of producing the pattern was identified.
The victim was unable to provide a coherent account of the circumstances leading to his injuries.
++ Police Investigation
The initial police investigation classified the incident as a probable **attempted robbery**.
The hypothesis was based primarily on the victim's physical injuries and the isolated location in which he was discovered.
However, the investigation found no evidence supporting robbery as the primary motive.
The victim was still in possession of:
* His mobile phone.
* His wallet.
* Cash.
* Personal documents.
* Other valuables carried during his travels.
Nothing of apparent value had been taken.
Further examination of the victim's possessions produced information of greater significance to the Foundation.
Photographs, video recordings and location data recovered from the victim's mobile phone indicated that he had recently visited the **Ritigala region** with another unidentified woman.
Investigations to find the woman is ongoing.
The images showed the victim exploring portions of the forest reserve and surrounding areas.
Additional police investigation determined that the victim had **captured and concealed a small lizard indigenous to the Ritigala region**, apparently with the intention of illegally transporting the animal out of Sri Lanka.
The animal was not recovered.
The victim's mobile phone contained photographs of the animal as well as images documenting his movement through the Ritigala area.
++ Post-Mortem Report
Despite initial stabilization following admission to hospital, the victim's condition subsequently deteriorated.
The victim remained alive for seven days following the suspected attack.
At **0000 hours on the seventh day**, the victim experienced sudden systemic deterioration and was pronounced dead.
The recorded cause of death was inconclusive.
Post-mortem examination documented extensive traumatic damage to the upper spinal column and surrounding tissues that remained inconsistent with the initial robbery hypothesis.
The previously documented black hand-shaped markings were still visible following death.
No toxicological evidence capable of explaining the victim's death was identified.
The exact mechanism responsible for the delayed death remains unknown.
++ Foundation Investigation
The incident was immediately flagged following comparison with SCP-XXXX's existing records.
Foundation surveillance records subsequently confirmed that the victim had previously been observed during his activities in the **Ritigala region**.
The victim had entered areas under Foundation observation and was recorded by covert monitoring systems during his exploration of the forest. Observation halted once victim left the area.
The victim was **last positively identified at approximately 2330 hours**, near a restaurant in the vicinity of the location where he was subsequently discovered.
At approximately **0500 hours**, the victim was found unconscious on Ela Kanda Beach by a local fisherman.
No reliable account of the victim's movements between **2330 and 0500 hours** was established.
The location of the final sighting and the location at which the victim was discovered are both within a populated suburban area. However, Ela Kanda Beach receives little or no pedestrian and fishing activity after approximately **1900 hours**, largely due to inadequate nighttime lighting.
The foundation collected DNA samples, and further analysis showed a 99% match with the samples collected from the dead MTF team. Although the DNA samples from the hand print have no match with any elements in the periodic table.
++ Foundation Assessment
The 2021 incident presents the most significant deviation from the previously established understanding of SCP-XXXX's territorial behavior.
Prior Foundation assessment classified SCP-XXXX as a highly territorial entity primarily associated with the **Ritigala region**.
However, the victim was attacked and subsequently discovered in **Wattala, Gampaha District**, a substantial distance from the established area of interest.
The victim's prior presence within SCP-XXXX's suspected territory is considered significant.
Of particular interest is the fact that the victim had apparently attempted to remove biological material from Ritigala without authorization.
The Foundation has therefore identified three possible explanations:
**Hypothesis A:**
SCP-XXXX is capable of pursuing individuals beyond the physical boundaries of its established territory.
**Hypothesis B:**
SCP-XXXX's territorial boundary extends considerably farther than previously believed.
**Hypothesis C:**
The act of removing an organism or other material associated with Ritigala constitutes a form of territorial intrusion that SCP-XXXX is capable of recognizing regardless of geographical distance.
Only hypotheses A and B has been confirmed.
The apparent relationship between the victim's activities in Ritigala and his subsequent attack in Wattala remains under investigation.

Anomalous Transformation:
SCP-XXXX has demonstrated the ability to assume the physical form of several animal species. Confirmed forms include: * Black bear. * Black wild boar. * Black wild dog. All observed transformed forms exhibit unusually dark coloration.
Victims who reportedly survived encounters with Mahasona are frequently described as experiencing significant memory loss, particularly concerning the encounter itself.
Other recurring descriptions include:
- Severe and persistent back pain following the encounter.
- The appearance of fingerprints belonging to an unidentified human individual.
- Progressive physical deterioration.
- Death occurring exactly seven days after the encounter.
Several traditions additionally state that the victim's death can be prevented if an appropriate ritual is performed before the seven-day period expires.
