**Item #:** SCP-9672
**Object Class:** Euclid
**Special Containment Procedures:** MTF personnel are required to secure and contain the immobilized entity. Due to potential communication occurring within the cognitive trap, MTF units must remain inside the cognitively active environment to ensure sufficient operational time for external containment teams to establish full control over the entity. EEG test showed that SCP-9672's cognitive influence is significantly reduced when surrounded by lead shielding. Also the Cognitive Trap cannot be initiated while SCP-9672 is maintained in a near-vacuum environment. The entity can only be securely contained within an airless, lead-lined containment chamber.
**Description:** SCP-9672 is a black, faded ghost-like entity classified as Euclid. The entity does not possess a recognizable human form, lacking defined limbs, facial structure, or a stable anatomical configuration. Instead, SCP-9672 appears as a shifting, non-Euclidean mass that partially adapts its shape based on environmental context, with the ability to manifest temporary appendages. Despite this adaptability, the entity's coloration remains constant and appears to be bound to the fundamental physical properties of the surrounding environment, showing no capability for chromatic alteration.
SCP-9672 demonstrates independent cognitive function and is capable of communication with human subjects; however, such interaction has only been observed within its cognitively generated environment, referred to as the "Cognitive Trap."
It's not capable to move at any moment while interacting inside the Cognitive Trap. During this state, subjects report intense hallucinations, trauma-based cognitive re-experiencing, and fabricated environmental reconstruction. SCP-9672 appears to have full access to the subject's memories and psychological profile, which it utilizes to amplify psychological distress and manipulate perception.
Within the cognitive trap, SCP-9672 is capable of mimicking human individuals, including the replication of voices, behavior patterns, and emotional responses. Although SCP-9672 is incapable of inflicting direct physical harm in baseline reality, it can induce extreme neurological overlaod within affected subjects, often resulting in fatal cognitive collapse.
Movement and interaction capabilities of SCP-9672 appear significantly anhanced within the cognitive trap environment, allowing rapid traversal and simultaneous engagement with multiple affected individuals. Outside of this state, SCP-9672 exhibits limited physical mobility and remains largely inactive un less a cognitive link is established.

**Sleep Laboratory Incident (November 2018)**
The first recorded anomalous activity involving SCP-9672 occurred at a private sleep research laboratory in Germany. Initially, staff reported multiple patients entering a sudden, unexplained state of complete physical paralysis while maintaining normal cerebral activity.
EEG recordings taken during these episodes revealed abnormal, synchronized neural patterns across unrelated subjects. Patients described experiencing a shared "secondary environment" while fully conscious, later referred to by Foundation researchers as the initial manifestation of the Cognitive Trap. During this state, affected individuals reported intense hallucinations, distorted environmental perception, and exposure to deeply personal traumatic memories. All subjects consistently described the presence of an unidentified entity, later designated SCP-9672, which appeared to interact with them exclusivly within this cognitive environment. No physical anomalie swere detected at the time, and the event was initially classified as a mass psychogenic episode. However, retrospective analysis of EEG data confirmed the presence of a consistent non-human interference pattern. One of the affected individuals, the wife of Dr. Markus Weber, remained under continuous observation due to persistent neurological irregularities following the incident. She is considered the first confirmed long-term victim of SCP-9672.
**Escalation and Secondary Incidents**
Following the Sleep Laboratory event, similar reports emerged from a psychatric hospital in early 2019. Affected individuals displayed identical symptom patterns, including sudden panic behavior immediatly after exiting a cognitively alerted state. During one such incident, a patient exiting the Cognitive Trap in a state of extreme confusion was misidentified as hostile by hospital security personnel (Jan Rausch). The Patient was subsequently fatally shot during a misinterpreted containment response. Immediatly following this event, Jan Rausch became affected by SCP-9672 and was fully absorbed into the Cognitive Trap. He later expired due to severe neurological overload induced by prolonged exposure to the entity.
**Neurological Research Facility Incident (June 2019)**
A previously decommissioned neurological research facility was identified as the likely focal point of SCP-9672 activity after Foundation surveillance detected persistent anomalous neural interference patterns despite the absence of personnel. Mobile Task Force Gamma-6 ("Mindbreakers") was deployed to investigate and contain the anomaly. Upon entry, the team immediatly reported cognitive distortion effects consistent with previous incidents, including memory intrusion, environmental misperception, and auditory hallucinations originating from within the Cognitive Trap.
------
**Transition to Radio Communication Log**
As the team advanced deeper into the facility, all members became progressively affected by the Cognitive Trap phenomenon. Real-time neurological interference intensified, resulting in overlapping perception states between personnel and the entity. At this point, direct vicual confirmation of SCP-9672 was no longer reliable, and all subsequent events were documented exclusively through MTF radio transmissions.
The following section contains the full communication log of Mobile Task Force Gamma-6 during the containment operation.
