**Item #:** SCP-9772
**Object Class:** Keter
**Special Containment Procedures:** Site-01 Sub-Level -1 has been designated SCP-9772’s de facto containment area, herein referred to as “The In”.
A 30-meter perimeter surrounding the chamber entrance is to remain lined with viable *Nephelium lappaceum* (rambutan) seeds at a density of 1 seed/m². Seeds are to be replaced every 14 days or immediately upon visible decomposition.
Personnel entering The In must wear APD-9772:
* Shade-14 welding goggles
* Flame-resistant Nomex suit
* Active noise-cancelling hearing protection
Loose paper, cloth, banners, or lightweight debris are prohibited within 5 meters of SCP-9772-B following repeated localized vacuum events.
Foundation insignia removed by SCP-9772-B are not to be recovered by force. Replacement insignia may be supplied upon approval from Site Command.
Unauthorized removal of rambutan material from Site-01 is grounds for termination.

# Description
SCP-9772 is the collective designation for two interdependent entities designated SCP-9772-A and SCP-9772-B.
The entities do not consistently occupy measurable physical space outside manifestation events. Baseline ontological modeling conducted without SCP-9772 present has repeatedly resulted in catastrophic informational instability, leading several researchers to propose that SCP-9772 may constitute a passive component of local reality structure.
Manifestations occur only inside The In and have, to date, always followed the introduction of viable rambutan fruit or seeds into the chamber.
Average manifestation duration is 11–14 minutes.
---
## SCP-9772-A
SCP-9772-A manifests as a hovering humanoid figure approximately 10 meters in height.
The entity emits intense white luminosity from all visible surfaces. Its facial region resembles a stellar object and cannot be observed directly without immediate retinal damage.
Materials within approximately 3 meters of SCP-9772-A undergo rapid thermal degradation. Personnel exposed to the entity report sensations of extreme environmental exposure, frequently describing nearby spaces as “too bright” despite unchanged light readings.
Photographic equipment positioned near SCP-9772-A has demonstrated persistent anomalies, including:
* overexposure prior to activation,
* thermal warping of undeveloped film,
* and timestamps preceding image capture.
Recorded vocalizations are infrequent and heavily degraded.
Known statements include:
> “…COLD…”
and
> “…NOT… INTENTIONAL…”
---
## SCP-9772-B
SCP-9772-B manifests as a two-dimensional humanoid silhouette of similar scale.
The entity absorbs nearly all measurable light within a 5-meter radius. Its facial region appears as an absence of observable depth or reflection.
Ambient sound near SCP-9772-B becomes heavily dampened. Paper, cloth, ash, and similar low-mass materials are periodically drawn toward the entity during localized pressure fluctuations.
Personnel exposed to SCP-9772-B for extended periods frequently report:
* emotional flattening,
* dissociation,
* and sensations of architectural familiarity toward previously unseen locations.
Known vocalizations include:
> “…LOUD…”
and
> “…EMPTY…”

# Addendum 9772-1: Incident 9772-R
During an unrelated containment breach, a basket of confiscated rambutan fruit was displaced into The In.
Both entities manifested simultaneously for approximately 14 minutes.
During the event:
* localized reality index values fell below stable baseline,
* electrical systems across Sub-Level -1 experienced synchronized failure,
* and all analog clocks within 200 meters stopped at 03:17.
No casualties occurred.
Following manifestation, SCP-9772-B ceased absorbing Foundation flags after a replacement insignia was placed inside The In by maintenance personnel.
No explanation has been determined.

# Addendum 9772-2: Interview Log
> **Dr. ████:** Was the climber intentional?
>
> **SCP-9772-A:** [Several nearby metal surfaces soften.]
> “…HE… WENT… ABOVE…”
>
> **Dr. ████:** Why keep him?
>
> **SCP-9772-B:** [Dr. ████’s notepad disappears.]
> “…HE… WAS… EMPTY… I... GAVE... HIM... A... ROOM...”
>
> **Dr. ████:** You two need a house.
>
> **[11 seconds of silence.]**
>
> **SCP-9772-A and SCP-9772-B:**
> “…HOME…”
Immediately following the statement, Site-01 experienced a 0.4 second total power failure.
Several personnel later reported briefly recalling rooms not present in Site-01 architectural plans.

# Addendum 9772-3: Recovery Log
**Recovery Team:** MTF Epsilon-11
A previously undocumented chamber was discovered behind the western wall of The In during post-incident inspection.
Contents included:
* two wooden chairs,
* a table,
* and decomposed rambutan fruit.
Wood analysis proved inconclusive. Growth structures did not match known terrestrial biology.
The following phrase had been carved repeatedly into the table surface:
> **THE FRUIT KEEPS THE LIGHTS ON.**
No fingerprints or tool marks were recovered.
The chamber no longer existed upon re-entry.

# Addendum 9772-4: Intercepted Transmission
Recovered from an unregistered Foundation receiver during Incident 9772-R.
The signal predates the manufacture date of the receiver by approximately 12,000 years.
Transcript follows:
> “We gave them fruit.
> The lights stayed on.
> Tell the others the seeds work.”

# Addendum 9772-5: Memorandum from O5-1
*Containment is often little more than ritual given administrative shape.*
*We line the floor with seeds because the seeds appear to matter.*
*We replace the flags because something inside The In recognizes the gesture.*
*Perhaps that is all civilization has ever been: small offerings made in dark rooms to keep the lights on a little longer.*
Excerpts of note:
Containment is a lie we tell ourselves to sleep at night. We don't contain SCP-2717. We are contained by it. The rambutans are not for them. They're for us. They're a reminder that the most complex things in the universe can be humbled by the simplest.
