Bright Works Proposal Discussion: THREAD
What is this?
As the culmination of the Bright Works Project, following a week of discussion, staff will now be voting on which proposal to choose, so that we can begin the resolution process.
All of the information can be found in the previous thread, or on the proposals hub; the proposals available for voting are:
- Remove and Counter Bright's Influence
- Near-Total Removal
- Single Source of Truth
- Adapted Deletions Threshold
- Minimal Staff Intervention
If there are any alternative options listed or mentioned within a proposal, the specifics will be voted on after choosing the proposal, so the immediate harm can be addressed while we continue to determine specific issues.
As such, this vote is for selecting the desired proposal. At the conclusion of this vote, the Bright Works Project will begin following the step-by-step breakdown and work towards resolution.
How Are We Voting?
For this proposal decision, to allow for staff members to list backups or secondary choices, we will be making this decision via ranked voting.
For each proposal listed, you will give them a rank between 1 and 5, where 1 is your first choice, and 5 is your last choice. You may put 0 if you do not want to choose a specific proposal, but you must choose at least your 1st choice.
At the conclusion of voting, the proposals will be evaluated via instant run-off; the majority choice will be selected. If there is no majority, the lowest choice will be removed and the results recalculated until there is a majority.
At the end of the voting timer, all votes will be tallied and calculated in a public Google Sheet; the proposal with the majority of votes will be selected.
The timer for this vote is set at 7 days to enable both sufficient time for staff to weigh in, while continuing with a focus towards harm reduction. This vote is open to Junior Staff, given the nature of the topic.
