Item #: SCP-8164
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-8164 is to be contained in a standard anomalous object locker at Site-73, within a reinforced, soundproof containment chamber measuring 5 m x 5 m x 5 m. The chamber must remain under constant video surveillance.
No personnel are permitted to interact with SCP-8164 without written authorization from two Level 3 researchers. Direct physical contact with SCP-8164 is prohibited unless for approved testing purposes.
In the event SCP-8164 is activated, all personnel are to remain stationary until time flow resumes. Any attempt to move SCP-8164 while anomalous effects are active has resulted in catastrophic failure (see Addendum 8164-B).
Description:
SCP-8164 is a mechanical analog wall clock of unknown manufacture, approximately 40 cm in diameter, with no identifiable brand markings or serial numbers. The clock appears heavily worn, displaying scratches and discoloration consistent with age; however, carbon dating of internal wooden components suggests an age inconsistent with known manufacturing methods.
SCP-8164 functions as a normal clock until the time displayed reaches exactly 12:00 (AM or PM). At that moment, time within a radius of approximately 300 meters ceases entirely.
While SCP-8164 is active:
All biological, mechanical, and physical processes halt.
Consciousness of affected individuals is suspended.
SCP-8164 itself remains operable and continues ticking audibly.
Only SCP-8164 and individuals in direct physical contact with it remain capable of movement.
Time resumes once the clock’s minute hand advances past 12:01. The duration of temporal stasis varies, ranging from 30 seconds to several hours, independent of subjective time.
Addendum 8164-A: Discovery
SCP-8164 was recovered from an abandoned train station in ███████, Germany, following reports of a “frozen crowd” observed by local authorities. Upon arrival, Foundation agents discovered 37 civilians immobilized mid-action, with SCP-8164 mounted on a wall in the station’s main hall.
Local time resumed approximately 47 minutes after Foundation arrival, at which point agents successfully secured SCP-8164. All civilians displayed no memory of the event.
Addendum 8164-B: Incident Report
Incident Date: ██/██/20██
Summary: During testing, Researcher Klein attempted to remove SCP-8164 from containment while time was halted.
Upon contact, SCP-8164’s ticking accelerated. Structural failure occurred throughout the containment chamber, resulting in spatial distortion and partial temporal overlap. Researcher Klein was later recovered in a state of permanent temporal displacement, appearing to age and de-age simultaneously until termination.
Following this incident, SCP-8164 was reclassified from Safe to Euclid.

Item #: SCP-8239
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-8239 is contained within a triple-layered psionically shielded containment chamber at Site-41. No direct observation of SCP-8239 is permitted. Monitoring is conducted exclusively through non-sentient recording equipment, reviewed only after a mandatory 24-hour delay.
Personnel assigned to SCP-8239 must undergo weekly psychological evaluations. Any individual displaying signs of intrusive thoughts not originating from their own memory is to be immediately quarantined.
Under no circumstances are personnel to acknowledge SCP-8239 verbally, mentally, or in writing during active containment.
Description:
SCP-8239 is a non-corporeal anomalous entity capable of infiltrating, observing, and altering human cognition. SCP-8239 has no confirmed physical form; its presence is detected only through neurological anomalies in affected subjects.
SCP-8239 manifests as a “mental probe”, forcibly extracting memories, emotional responses, and internal monologue from individuals within a variable range (estimated 1–5 km). Subjects report sensations of being “searched,” “read,” or “examined,” often accompanied by severe migraines and dissociative episodes.
Unlike telepathic anomalies, SCP-8239 does not communicate. It observes.
Subjects exposed to SCP-8239 consistently report the belief that their thoughts are no longer private. This belief persists even after removal from the affected area.
Addendum 8239-A: Discovery
SCP-8239 was identified following a cluster of suicides among neurologists at █████████ University. All victims left identical notes containing detailed descriptions of memories they claimed were “no longer theirs.”
Foundation investigation revealed identical neural scarring patterns in all subjects, despite no shared trauma history.
Addendum 8239-B: Behavioral Pattern
Analysis of affected individuals suggests SCP-8239 focuses primarily on:
Guilt-related memories
Suppressed thoughts
Hypothetical futures involving regret
SCP-8239 appears to lose interest once a subject becomes aware of its presence, suggesting a predatory reliance on unobserved cognition.
Addendum 8239-C: Incident Report
During a containment breach on ██/██/20██, multiple personnel reported hearing their own thoughts spoken aloud internally, in unfamiliar phrasing.
One researcher was recorded repeatedly whispering:
“Stop looking. I’m still thinking.”
Subject entered a catatonic state shortly thereafter.
Researcher Note:
“SCP-8239 doesn’t invade the mind. It proves the mind was never locked.”
