+++ Special Containment Procedures
All samples of SCP-9115 are to be dehydrated and contained within an air-tight sealed dry box fabricated from non-organic compounds and marked clearly with an NFPA-704 4-0-0-POI designation. This dry box is to remained locked and may only be opened inside a class III bio-safety cabinet installed within a BSL-4 rated laboratory. Potential exposure of Foundation personnel to even trace amounts of SCP-9115 are to be thoroughly investigated. As a safety precaution, any potentially exposed Foundation staff are to be quarantined for at least 48 hours and monitored for signs of the SCP-9115-1 conversion process. If exposure to the skin is observed, the most reliable method of preventing the SCP-9115-1 conversion process is through immediate amputation.
All occurrences of SCP-9115-1 and SCP-9115-2 are to be similarly confined within a class III bio-safety containment cell, constructed with concrete, metal doors, and reinforced windows. The only access to these containment cells must be a single hallway with a single reinforced egress door, guarded by a mounted machine gun capable of firing .50 BMG caliber munitions. Because new instances of SCP-9115-1 and SCP-9115-2 can be created through exposure to SCP-9115, The Foundation has deemed all instances of SCP-9115-1 and SCP-9115-2 as expendable. As such, in the event of an SCP-9115-2 containment breach, lethal force is immediately authorized.

+++ Description
SCP-9115 is an anomalous form of matter which is a pale, heavy powder in its purified and dehydrated state. It is unknown whether SCP-9115 is an element or a compound. Decomposition testing has failed to break it down, and spectroscopy tests have determined the substance is IR-Inactive. Furthermore, the molecular weight of SCP-9115 appears to randomly fluctuate anywhere between 143.02u and 177.93u with no discernable cause or pattern.
Once in contact with organic compounds, SCP-9115 begins to alter their molecular structure. The Foundation does not currently have a complete understanding of this process. SCP-9115 does not appear to bind to the molecular structures it interacts with. Instead, it acts as a catalyst to induce something similar to isomerization, but at a molecular level. This indicates SCP-9115 may be some form of molecular prion.
Testing has shown SCP-9115 to react exclusively with compounds containing C-H bonds, irrespective of whether the other compound contains free-radicals. This includes all alkanes. During interaction with SCP-9115, these organic compounds are subject to an unknown process of alteration which is not always predictable. Protons, electrons, and neutrons seem to be substituted, added, and/or subtracted in ways that do not follow the laws of thermodynamics. In some cases, particular experiments repeated under the exact same conditions have produced different outcomes. This indicates SCP-9115 interactions are not always determinate. Interaction between organic compounds and SCP-9115 has never been shown to produce organic compounds. Substance(s) produced from interaction with SCP-9115 are in some cases anomalous themselves. SCP-9115 has also been shown to be capable of producing more SCP-9115. All anomalous compounds synthesized by SCP-9115 are collectively designated as SCP-9115-3 and are under active study. Further research on the properties of each individual substance under the SCP-9115-3 umbrella will be documented separately and labeled as SCP-9115-3-[IUPAC Name]-[N], where [IUPAC Name] is the original compound exposed to SCP-9115, and [N] is used to numerically differentiate between products when more than one result is possible.
When subject to doses of radiation upwards of 1,200 Gy, SCP-9115 appears to vanish from existence. It is currently unknown whether this activity destroys SCP-9115 or if the extreme radiation causes a transportation effect to another time, place, or reality. Due to this uncertainty, The Foundation has decided such tests which expose SCP-9115 to conditions of high radiation remain limited.
+++++ SCP-9115-1
**SCP-9115-1 is sub-designated as Containment Safe, Disruption Dark, Risk Notice.** Living organisms exposed to SCP-9115 are collectively designated as SCP-9115-1. Reversion of this process does not appear possible. The SCP-9115-1 conversion process is believed to begin with the aforementioned anomalous molecular interaction that SCP-9115 induces upon contact with organic compounds, however the outcome of this interaction appears to be dependent upon whether the exposed organism is living or deceased. It is unknown how SCP-9115 is able to differentiate whether the organic compounds it interacts with are part of a living or deceased whole, however this differentiation appears to be determinate at a cellular level.
The SCP-9115-1 conversion process begins at the point of exposure and spreads outwards. Because the outermost skin cells are deceased, if exposed directly SCP-9115 will begin altering the skin's organic compounds into both inorganic and anomalous compounds. Further synthesis of SCP-9115 will propagate the infection, resulting in the formation of an intense rash as the subject's skin is slowly transformed into a stone-like material. When this infection eventually reaches the living layer of skin cells beneath, it appears a higher rate of anomalous compounds are produced, accelerating the infection. The overall pace of the SCP-9115-1 conversion process seems roughly proportionate to the amount of SCP-9115 initially introduced to the body. Furthermore, exposure of SCP-9115 into the living tissue of a subject greatly accelerates the SCP-9115-1 conversion process. Introduction of SCP-9115 into an open wound or inhalation of SCP-9115 seems to be the most efficient method of SCP-9115-1 synthesis, followed by ingestion of SCP-9115, with the slowest process being exposure of SCP-9115 to the skin.
Based upon reactions of the exposed subjects, the SCP-9115-1 conversion process is in all cases extremely painful. The longest conversion process recorded by The Foundation lasted 26 hours and 37 minutes, while the shortest conversion process took only 3 minutes and 16 seconds. Upon completion of the SCP-9115-1 conversion process, the SCP-9115-1 instance appears identical to the original subject - turned to stone. The stone's coloration is roughly similar to white clay. Details down to the subject's eyelashes and individual hairs remain.
No instances of SCP-9115-1 have ever been shown to move, either under or outside of observation. No instances of SCP-9115-1 have shown any sign of a heartbeat or brain activity. However, SCP-9115-1 has been shown to bleed. The blood of SCP-9115-1 contains high concentrations of SCP-9115, and is therefore hazardous. Due to the density of SCP-9115-1's outer shell, power tools or high caliber munitions are required to puncture what was once the skin. Upon creation of a wound in SCP-9115-1, dark red coagulated blood begins to seep out from the interior stone-like material. Although breaching an artery still initially incurs arterial spray, it is less significant when compared to a living subject and the spraying subsides quickly. The cause of this is assumed to originate from internal pressures as opposed to the heart's pumping action, which is non-existent in SCP-9115-1.
+++++ SCP-9115-2
**SCP-9115-2 is sub-designated as Containment Euclid, Disruption Keneq, Risk Critical.** All instances of SCP-9115-1 which become animated are designated as SCP-9115-2. Data on time taken for SCP-9115-1 to convert into SCP-9115-2 shows this incubation period to be completely random, and furthermore some instances of SCP-9115-1 have remained dormant without any sign of the SCP-9115-2 conversion process. Because it cannot be proven that some SCP-9115-1 instances will never transition into SCP-9115-2, all instances of SCP-9115-1 are to be treated as if SCP-9115-2 conversion may occur at any moment, even if historically dormant. As of yet, there have been no observations that indicate reversion from SCP-9115-2 back into SCP-9115-1 is possible.
When the SCP-9115-2 conversion process occurs, the outermost layer of stone cracks along the joints that SCP-9115-2 will utilize to move. This fracturing induces arterial spray and oozed bleeding from SCP-9115-2. Fracturing typically occurs along the elbows, wrists, ankles, knees, hips, and neck, however SCP-9115-2 has also been shown to utilize unconventional joints. For example, fracturing above/below the elbow/knee occasionally occurs, creating something similar to a two jointed arm or leg. The joints of SCP-9115-2 do not always bend as expected and may instead bend backwards, sideways, or crookedly.
Once mobile, SCP-9115-2 has roughly five times the strength of the original subject. The speed of SCP-9115-2 depends entirely upon how its fractured joints manifest. At the extreme ends of the spectrum, SCP-9115-2 can move anywhere from five times faster or slower than the original subject, however the speed of any given SCP-9115-2 instance appears to follow a normal bell curve distribution.
SCP-9115-2 does not appear to utilize its eyes, yet it exhibits the ability to see and hear even when the eyes and ears of the subject have been surgically removed as early as prior to the SCP-9115-1 conversion process. Dismemberment of SCP-9115-2 does not immediately cause animation to cease, and in many cases the severed limbs continue to remain active for extended periods. Eventually an instance of SCP-9115-2 will cease to function and this seems to correlate with quantity of blood loss rather than a direct result of physical damage administered.
Results from cognitive and behavioral testing indicate that the intelligence of SCP-9115-2 is roughly proportionate to that of a wolf. SCP-9115-2 does not require food or water, yet predatory instincts seem to remain. When in a group, SCP-9115-2 instances exhibit rudimentary pack hunting behaviors, sometimes fanning out and taking alternative paths to cut off prey. This hunting behavior only stops when the prey has been terminated or if the prey is exposed to SCP-9115 and has begun the SCP-9115-1 conversion process. In either case, the subject is ignored while SCP-9115-2 continues hunting further targets.
SCP-9115-2 does not seem to react to pain or exhibit any fear response. SCP-9115-2 has been shown in all cases to be extremely hostile and aggressive towards any form of life. SCP-9115-2 has not reacted to any forms of communication and correspondence does not appear possible. All instances of SCP-9115-2 are to be considered a deadly threat and no attempts to befriend an SCP-9115-2 are permitted by Foundation staff.

++++ Addendum 9115.1 Discovery:
Following the fall of Berlin in 1945, the SCP Foundation was alerted to a handful of procured documents on Nazi experimentation involving anomalous methods of life extension and immortality. Intelligence sources confirmed that Japanese Unit 731 was attempting to recreate this failed Nazi research under code name 埴輪 (Haniwa), and redacted witness reports of allied Okinawa troops confirm that the island was used as a testing ground for SCP-9115 weaponization. Utilization of SCP-9115 was fortunately extremely limited and further weaponization research was abandoned by the Japanese following the deployment of the atomic bomb. Containment activities on Okinawa were successful, preventing any widespread anomalous incidents, and samples of SCP-9115 were procured and brought back to The Foundation for study. Following the Japanese surrender in 1947, it is widely confirmed by intelligence that the Imperial Japanese destroyed all Unit 731 research projects and material, after which the researchers committed Seppuku. Details on how SCP-9115 was originally synthesized or obtained were lost, and this knowledge has not yet been recovered. This leaves The Foundation with the only currently known quantity of SCP-9115 in existence and the only known entity capable of creating more.
