Item #: SCP-9642
Object Class: Keter
**Special Containment Procedures:**
No permanent containment procedures for SCP-9642 have proven effective. Upon manifestation, the surrounding area is to be immediately restricted under the pretense of structural instability and hazardous gas leakage.
Civilian access within a 50 m radius is to be denied. Mobile Task Forces may be deployed for observation purposes only, and direct interaction with SCP-9642 is strictly prohibited.
SCP-9642 demonstrates apparent awareness of pursuit and consistently demanifests after consuming one to two individuals, reappearing in another qualifying urban area. After relocation, the former manifestation site is to be investigated, sealed, and structurally filled to conceal any anomalous spatial void.
**Description:**
SCP-9642, informally referred to as “The Building with Those Green Lights”, is an anomalous architectural structure first documented on 25 August 1996 in a small inland city in the state of Virginia, USA.
SCP-9642 manifests as a uniformly green building approximately 11 meters in height, with width and length varying between manifestations. Near the upper interior section of the structure, approximately one meter below the ceiling, SCP-9642 displays three bright green lights arranged horizontally. Beneath each light is a protruding structure resembling a balcony, ledge or window, for which no conventional access points have been identified. Individuals approaching SCP-9642 consistently report a strong odor of lavender emanating from the structure.
SCP-9642 manifests exclusively in urban environments with populations ranging between 20,000 and 40,000 inhabitants. Any individual who maintains direct visual contact with the green lights for longer than five seconds becomes affected by SCP-9642’s anomalous influence and is designated SCP-9642-A. SCP-9642-A instances continue normal daily activities and often exhibit partial or complete amnesia regarding SCP-9642. After a latency period typically not exceeding two weeks, affected individuals develop a compulsive urge to return to SCP-9642’s location, arriving in all documented cases with at least one additional individual acquired through persuasion or physical coercion.
Upon entering SCP-9642, SCP-9642-A instances are presumed to be lethally processed by unknown means. During feeding events, SCP-9642’s windows have been observed exhibiting severe deformities, including warping, bulging, and irregular movement, which cease after feeding concludes.
Following consumption, SCP-9642 demanifests entirely. The area surrounding SCP-9642 is associated with heightened aggression and violent behavior, including assaults and homicides, with victims’ bodies frequently being transported toward SCP-9642 by affected individuals.
**Discovery:**
SCP-9642 was discovered in 1996 following a series of unexplained disappearances and violent incidents in a small city in Virginia. Witness reports described the sudden appearance of a green-colored building emitting a strong floral odor, which was not present in prior municipal records. Foundation assets embedded within local law enforcement identified the anomaly during an investigation into multiple missing persons cases linked to the same location. The area was secured, witnesses were administered amnestic treatment, and SCP-9642 demanifested approximately 48 hours after initial Foundation observation.
**Addendum 9642-1 —** Containment Attempts:
Multiple containment strategies have been proposed and attempted. All have failed or were deemed impractical. Demolition is not considered a viable option. During an early containment attempt, damage inflicted on one of SCP-9642’s exterior walls resulted in the expulsion of an extremely corrosive gaseous substance with a strong lavender scent. Exposure resulted in the deaths of twelve Foundation personnel.
**Addendum 9642-2 —** Behavioral Analysis:
SCP-9642 exhibits cognitive behavior comparable to that of an animal. It demonstrates awareness of threats, a capacity to recognize when it is “sated,” and selective decision-making. The anomaly’s consistent preference for small cities suggests an ability to obtain or process demographic information by unknown means. The mechanism by which SCP-9642 acquires such knowledge remains unidentified.

Direct visual contact is cool as well, like if you walk buy and you stand in the light you're fine but if you get curious and look at it, bang, you essentially dead. The only thing I feel like could be improved is visibility. It's hard to see where special containment procedures end and the description begins."
Thanks for liking it, i’m really glad.
What do you suggest so i can make it more understandable?
