New site member Dr McHerpington does not match any existing user name (account age 23 days, site membership 19 days) has been leaving problematic feedback on low-rated coldposts lately. The most recent is here, since the rest are now gone with the deleted articles:

- You actually gave it a proper Object Class that matches the containment procedures (Most new people screw that up all the time)
- You used metric instead of customary/imperial. Again, most new people always forget.
- While, again, most newbies screw it up, you gave it an image that fits
- You used the correct format
- You [DATA EXPUNGED] part of the Special Containment Procedures. How would the containment specialists know what pill to give it?
- You don't need to capitalize or bold "Euclid"
- The addendum didn't add much
- (Optional) You should label the Addendum (name it Addendum-2443-A or something)
- There is no hook (There is nothing to draw the reader in)
- "with no free objects" I'm sorry, but what does that mean? Most people likely don't know what you meant by "free objects" and therefore get confused from the article.
- Physical appearance is a bit cliche. It's also more "Ahh scary!" than it is "Mysteriously scary"
- About the Addendum, the Foundation wouldn't just simply send in 2 D-Classes willy-nilly.
I recommend you be sure to remember what you did right and put those in as well as try to detect and remove/improve the screw-ups.
I replied to the above instance with a modpost, and the following:
Uhh… bro. While I'm all for complimenting people on stuff they did right, this sort of "wow most new people suck at writing SCPs" attitude doesn't help the community. Additionally, there's no need to laud an author for getting the absolute basics right; these are things everyone should be doing without needing prompting.
Similarly, labeling narrative/writing mistakes as "Things you screwed up on" and "screw-ups" isn't really going to encourage the author or particularly endear them or other writers to listening to you.
Consider sticking to the basics for feedback—just point out what you noticed needs fixing and leave it at that.
Also, four-year necropost that resulted in a thread getting locked: http://www.scp-wiki.net/forum/t-77831/wow-i-never-expected-this#post-2523120
They seem to mean well, but we've had issues before with the whole "wow you put your shirt on and it's not backwards like all the other kids get wrong! Congrats!" sort of feedback. Keep an eye on.
