Noting that it was reported to staff that
nakmilas (account age 363 days, site membership 362 days) recently coldposted the following page, which had multiple indicators of AI-generation: https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-8615 "SCP-8615 Shifting Shaft". Of note, the same page had been earlier posted in the SCP-8556 slot, and later deleted/replaced.
The full text of the report is below:
Hi,
Somebody recently wrote SCP-8556 and SCP-8615 Shifting Shaft. These are the exact same article posted within 20 minutes that I'm 100% sure are AI (I'm extremely good at spotting AI).
The reason for SCP-8556 I had written out as I was to post it in the discussion
First of all, there's an error in the formatting when you added "Anomalous Phenomena" as its own section rather than including it in the description (the wiki has an option to automatically do the formatting for the article as well). That would be fine if you were a newbie because you may not know the formatting or that it was an option, but I find it suspicious that a new writer would manage to get such a good clinical tone and everything else correct.
Secondly, you added the anomalous properties into a list. Not much on its own so I usually ignore it until I have reason to be suspicious, but AI is very fond of using lists in SCP Articles.
This:
*“Every time the facility changes, it grows deeper.
We stopped drilling years ago, yet the elevator keeps descending.”*
— Dr. █████, Chief Geologist, Site-8556" Is what was the kicker though because everything in this screams AI.
Firstly, what it is in itself. AI loves to add quotes from the O5 or researchers. Odd quotes from somebody about the SCP is something I've seen mostly in AI articles.
Secondly, you used “ instead of ". This might not be much, but AI only uses “ whereas most keyboards and people naturally use ". This could be nothing but with the suspicion it's AI it is important.
Thirdly, the bold. You managed to get every header in bold, but with this you only used one asterisk. How did you just forget how to bold or click the button? AI isn't perfect with Wiki formatting and it'll sometimes use one symbol instead of two. I'm 95% sure this is AI.
They then deleted the article before I could post the explanation. Less than 20 minutes later they reposted it with the entire article rewritten in an even more AI-like format, but they deleted that one as soon as I called them out in the discussion.
I don't know their user though, but I'm assuming there's some way for you to figure out.
Thanks :)
The account in question has no forum comments and no sandbox activity. Their only remaining edits are on a different language branch, or series lists on the mainsite, indicating former coldposts that did not pass deletion threshold. Logs from "recent post" searches in the Discord confirm the report's statements about the pages being quickly posted and deleted. ETA: additional note, the user who submitted the report has correctly identified AI-generated content before, and assisted with multiple cases of coldposted AI pages within the past few weeks.
