| Item #: | SCP-9123 |
| Object Class: | Keter |
| Special Containment Procedures: | SCP-9123 is contained within a 12 m × 12 m reinforced chamber at Site-██. The chamber is lined with Scranton Reality Anchors to suppress spatial anomalies. Observation is limited to 10 minutes via filtered video feeds with luminosity reduced by 60%. Personnel must not approach within 5 m without full cognitive shielding. Physical contact is prohibited. Individuals exhibiting acute psychic distress are to be removed immediately and treated. Containment breaches must be handled exclusively via drones or automated tools. |
| Description: | SCP-9123 is a 2.3 m tall statue depicting a humanoid figure seated on a fractured altar. Its surface is a deep obsidian black, absorbing light and casting unnatural shadows. Two deep scars on its back indicate where wings were forcibly removed. SCP-9123 is immobile but exerts a persistent psychic influence on observers. Exposure causes despair, rage, auditory hallucinations, and suicidal thoughts. Long-term exposure results in permanent psychological trauma. The statue regenerates any physical damage rapidly, and attempts at destruction amplify its psychic effects. |
== Documented Effects ==
* Psychic Induction: Subjects within 20 m experience despair, rage, and hallucinations often involving judgment or condemnation. Effects intensify when aggression is directed at SCP-9123.
* Spatial Distortion: Prolonged proximity can cause minor warping of space-time, including object displacement and localized time anomalies.
* Cognitive Feedback: Direct observation beyond safe limits produces memory lapses, intrusive hallucinations, and acute psychological trauma.
== Visual Record ==
SCP-9123 is seated upright, hands resting on its knees, head slightly tilted forward. The fractured altar beneath it shows evidence of past violence. Video logs capture faint whispers resembling judgment, often perceived as originating from the statue itself.
== Discovery ==
Recovered from the ruins of █████ Cathedral, ██████, Italy after reports of unexplained suicides, hallucinations, and fires. Initial containment failed due to intense psychic backlash. Stabilization was achieved using Scranton Reality Anchors and remote observation.
== Incident 9123-A ==
During observation, Research Assistant ████ exceeded the 10-minute limit and approached within 4 m of SCP-9123. The subject exhibited acute distress, shouting accusations at the statue and resisting removal. Personnel within 20 m reported hallucinations of falling from great heights and hearing faint whispers of condemnation. The incident caused permanent psychological trauma to Research Assistant ████. Observation protocols were updated to strictly enforce time and distance limits.
== Addendum 9123-1 Interview Excerpt ==
> Dr. █████: Are you alive, or merely stone?
> SCP-9123: Both. Wings gone. Still bound.
> Dr. █████: Why remain here?
> SCP-9123: The fallen remember. Stone carries the weight of judgment.

Seeking Greenlight: Yes. Looking for feedback on horror impact, containment, and narrative clarity
Elevator pitch: A wingless, obsidian-black angel statue radiates psychic influence, causing hallucinations, despair, and trauma to anyone nearby
It was recovered from the ruins of █████ Cathedral, Italy, following reports of suicides, hallucinations, and fires. Containment focuses on minimizing exposure, preventing aggression, and maintaining structural integrity while documenting its effects

Elevator Pitch
The Threshold Cube is a white twist cube that, when twisted into specific sequences, generates a black fog called the Gate around the handler and teleports them into a pocket dimension called The Void. The Void exists outside normal time, neither past, present, nor future. Visitors experience twisted past and future visions, encounter hostile entities including corrupted versions of themselves, and risk permanent insanity or merging with The Void. Rare black and white orbs can be consumed to slow threats and reduce psychological effects. Twisting the cube again inside The Void returns the user to baseline reality.
Central Narrative
Discovery
• The Threshold Cube was recovered from a burned estate where multiple disappearances were reported.
• Witnesses described people vanishing into smoke.
• The cube itself remained intact.
Mechanics
• Twisting the Threshold Cube forms the Gate, teleporting the handler into The Void.
• Other people may enter the Gate within ten seconds. After ten seconds, the Gate closes and dissipates. Certain powerful forces may extend the Gate duration.
• Twisting the cube inside The Void returns the user to baseline reality.
• One step in The Void equals 500 steps in baseline reality which can cause displacement as once they teleport back,they are in a different area.
• The Void exists outside conventional time, neither past, present, nor future.
The Void
• Infinite, surreal pocket dimension influenced by the visitor’s psyche.
• Visitors may experience twisted past and future events as hallucinations.
• Distorted reflections or black-eyed watchers may appear.
• Entities include crawling dark human heads, spiders with human heads, dark void humans, and crawlers.
• Major threats include a huge tentacled crawler and an amorphous black acid-spewing entity.
• Corrupted self-entity is a twisted version of the visitor. It moves slowly at first and gradually accelerates, attacking with back tentacles.
Prolonged Exposure
• Leads to memory fragmentation, paranoia, and hallucinations.
• Visitors may go insane or permanently merge with The Void.
• Entities become more aggressive over time.
Survival Mechanics
• Rare black and white orbs appear in The Void.
• Consuming them slows hostile entities and reduces psychological effects.
• Orbs are extremely rare; visitors may see none, one, or several.
Incident Log TT-01
• Subject: D-9341
• Procedure: Subject instructed to twist the Threshold Cube in a controlled chamber.
• Observation: Black fog formed around the cube. Subject and two nearby researchers entered within ten seconds.
• Void Exposure: Subject experienced twisted memories and distorted visions of the future. Encountered corrupted self-entity and minor entities.
• Survival: One black orb appeared and was consumed by the subject, slowing threats and reducing hallucinations. Subject returned safely after twelve minutes by twisting the cube.
• Aftermath: Subject reported paranoia and minor hallucinations. Researchers noted mild memory lapses. The Gate dissipated upon return, leaving the cube intact.
Narrative Hook
• The Threshold Cube combines a familiar object with high narrative potential.
• The Void’s timeless nature, unpredictable environment, hostile entities, and rare survival mechanics create high-stakes scenarios.
• Each visitor’s experience is unique, allowing for rich storytelling in logs, experiments, and containment scenarios.
