Noting that new site member
Magnileak (account age and site membership 70 days) recently sent me the following PM:
Hi, Zyn.
I'm suspecting that the author of a cold-posted article used AI to generate their article. Noting multiple inconsistencies of writing style and unusual punctuation and capitalisation has led me to suspect as such. I just wanted to bring this to your attention.

And further pointing out inconsistencies in style in my forum reply:

Thank you for your time.

The page in question: https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-8219 title "SCP-8219 A nice friend at a bench" does not have any typical AI-indicators/not enough evidence to support disciplinary action. However, in the page's discussion thread, the user repeatedly pressed their claim that AI was used, on the basis of "inconsistencies with writing styles, unusual capitalisation, and unusual wording revisions". Discussion ported below:

Edit: Noting the absence of rating module
Edit 2: I have added a rating module
While I like the concept for this article, the clinical tone is seriously lacking, along with SPaG errors.
[[collapsible show="(Collapsed as courtesy for mobile users.)" hide="(Might be a tl;dr for some people, sorry...)"]]
Moreover, there are multiple instances where paragraph breaks were not necessary.
> And for those who say no, they eventually would come back to actually want to take a seat and talk to the anomaly.
>
> The bench has been seen repairing itself almost instantly. On one occasion, a car tire would fall off, hit the bench extremely fast and hard, breaking some of the wood. It took about 58 seconds to restore itself.
>
> For example, when it was hit by lightning in New England, it restored itself within only a few minutes.
>
> Even when it was sitting in a park in Canada, were, it was raining heavily, it never showed any water damage.
(etc)
Your log of interactions is also incorrectly formatted and very hard to keep track of. Noting inconsistencies with how the interaction logs have been laid out:
> SCP-8219-dash-1, hey, what's up with you, brat?
>
> SCP-8219-dash 2 slap SCP-8219-dash-1, with a purse. Can you speak to a little girl? More nicely, people don't have manners nowadays.
>
> As SCP-8219-dash-2 approached, it said, 'What's wrong?'
>
> Kimberly, I lost my mom. I don't know where she is.
vs
> FAL : I just found out that my fiancé was cheating on me. I thought I was doing everything right. I loved her.
>
> SCP-8219, listen to me, brother. I encountered cases where people I thought were trustworthy turned out to be backstabbers. So, let me say this: the best way to get revenge is to not obsess over the person who betrayed you. That's how you get back at them.
>
> fal : But I don't want to hurt her.
>
> SCP-8219 Listen to me when I say get back at her, I mean you need to get back on your feet and don't let someone, a woman, destroy you. You need to get back on your feet and be better than what you are now, after all when she realized that she made a mistake leaving someone like you she's going to want you back but you don't take her back you make it so she understands the error that she made a mistake of cheating on a good guy.
vs
> Eventually, the ambulance would come and take Casey away. One of the workers would say you did a good job As she would say, 'Do you work at the same hospital? I don't think I've seen you before.'
>
> SCP-8219 would shout We don't have time for that, you have to get her well soon.
>
> The medical worker, I'm so sorry, it just seemed familial, it should be noted that this was Kimberly's mother.
(etc)
And the log interaction titles:
> SCP-8219 log of interactions.
> SCP-8219 Second log interaction.
> SCP-8219 3rd interaction
> Interaction log 4rd
> SCP-8219 animal
> Interaction between SCP-8219 and a human and an alligator
And so on.

Author, did you use AI to write this article? I'm seeing a lot of inconsistencies with writing styles, unusual capitalisation, and unusual wording revisions, which leads me to believe the use of AI/LLM generators has been used.
Reader comment:
I absolutely do not think this was written by an LLM. I've read a bunch of AI-generated works here and in other places, and this has none of the hallmarks I associate with LLM generated text.
https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-17168210/scp-8219#post-7078176
Maybe not LMM, per se, but AI usage is still suspected. I'll pull in a moderator
Reader reply:
Nope.
AI/LLM simply does not generate text that looks remotely like this, unless maybe you send it some weird set of instructions to Exquisite Corpse it and churn it through several layers of a stream of consciousness byzantine labyrinth made of questionable writing decisions.
https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-17168210/scp-8219#post-7078205
Understandable, but my suspicion still stands
Reader reply:
We're not talking about the article anymore, I suppose, but if anything, LLM and AI generated text is overly consistent in terms of writing style, and more concerned with grammatical parsing than with the logic of ideas. It doesn't really make mistakes like "unusual capitalization" very often, especially not in the way this does, with "Target" for instance being oddly capitalized. Unusual wording revisions are something I rarely see in LLM/AI generated text — usually, these neuter some amount of technobabble because the "author" is uncomfy with how goofy and sci-fi it sounds.

This will be my last reply on this matter.
The author could have changed the wording after generating. Aka, making surface edits to avoid AI detection. The inconsistencies in writing style were the main reason I suspected AI usage.
I will not continue further with this topic of AI usage.
It was also brought to staff attention that the user "has an extensive history of immature behavior in the Discord server, and was recently banned from here as a result."
If note, the user does have a more polite interaction in this forum thread: https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-17168705/the-principle-of-violent-equilibrium where after the author explains their writing style based on experience/references, they respond:
I apologise if I came off as rude. Thanks for clarifying
However, the initial accusation is unfounded, as the user states (with some shaky logic):
Author, did you use AI to write this concept? You stated in your last sentence that English wasn't your first language, but I'm seeing some words that are not commonly used in the English language:
I responded to the user's initial PM with:
Hmm. I've taken a look at the case, and I can't say I personally see any of the typical indicators of AI-generation. The examples provided in your forum post tend to be more commonly associated with someone who isn't familiar with the SCP format/clinical tone, rather than someone who used AI. As such, there isn't enough evidence for staff to enact disciplinary action.
Moving forward, if you suspect that an author has used AI, please notify a staff member rather than backseat modding in the discussion thread of a user's work.
ETA: user replied
Thank you for the clarification, and apologies for the backseat modding. I'll watch myself.
