Item #: SCP-8103
Name: The Sphere of Destiny
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-8103 is to be contained in a standard 5m x 5m x 5m containment cell at Site-17. The cell must be equipped with 24-hour audio and video monitoring systems. Access to SCP-8103 is not permitted without the authorization of at least two (2) Level 3 personnel.
Personnel assigned to SCP-8103 must undergo monthly psychological evaluations. Any changes in SCP-8103's behavior or mental state must be immediately reported to Dr. ██████.
Description: SCP-8103, known as "The Sphere of Destiny," is a crystal sphere with a diameter of 1 meter. The surface of SCP-8103 is completely smooth and emits a faint blue light. SCP-8103's primary anomaly manifests when a human makes direct eye contact with the sphere.
Individuals who look at SCP-8103 enter a trance state in which they experience visions of future events. These events are highly specific to the individual and tend to focus on moments of great emotional impact or critical decisions in their lives. The visions last between 30 seconds and 5 minutes, and upon conclusion, subjects regain consciousness without remembering having seen SCP-8103, but retaining the memory of the visions.
Tests have shown that the visions provided by SCP-8103 are accurate in 85% of cases. However, attempts to alter the predicted events usually result in unforeseen consequences that ultimately lead to the same or a similar outcome.
Addendum 8103-A: Experiment Log
Experiment 8103-01
Subject: D-9342
Procedure: D-9342 was instructed to look directly at SCP-8103.
Results: D-9342 reported seeing a vision of himself escaping confinement and reuniting with his family. Two weeks later, D-9342 attempted to escape during a routine transfer, resulting in his death by security forces. D-9342's family was informed of his passing.
Experiment 8103-05
Subject: Dr. █████
Procedure: Dr. █████ observed SCP-8103 under controlled supervision.
Results: Dr. █████ reported seeing a vision of his own death during an experiment with SCP-███. Three months later, during an experiment, Dr. █████ was fatally injured by SCP-███ under circumstances similar to those seen in his vision.
Addendum 8103-B: Researcher’s Note
Given SCP-8103's predictive nature and its impact on subjects' behavior, it is recommended to limit exposure to only necessary personnel and to continue investigations to better understand the mechanics behind its visions and their accuracy.
Signed,
Dr. ██████, Head of Research for SCP-8103
