### **Description**
SCP-8340 is a humanoid entity approximately 1.83 meters tall and weighing 58 kilograms, appearing to be in its early 30s. It speaks with a British accent. While biologically similar to a human, genetic analysis reveals that SCP-8340 is not fully compatible with the human genome.
SCP-8340 possesses the ability to perceive and manipulate a metaphysical substance it refers to as **“soul fabric.”** This material represents the identity, personality, and, if applicable, anomalous traits of a being. SCP-8340 can extract and process this substance using a unique pair of scissors designated **SCP-8340-B**, which only it is capable of operating.
Garments or items crafted from soul fabric by SCP-8340 are designated **SCP-8340-A**. These products are typically invisible but can be perceived emotionally or physically by their user or environment.
When SCP-8340 collects numerous small, fragmented pieces of soul fabric from a single entity, it first spins them into metaphysical thread. Each individual thread spool is designated **SCP-8340-C-1**, corresponding to the source entity.
These threads are stored within **SCP-8340-C**, a pocket-dimensional bag carried by SCP-8340. Within the bag resides a metaphysical loom, designated **SCP-8340-C-2**, which is used to reweave the threads into unified soul fabric.
This fabric may then be tailored into new SCP-8340-A items or fused with physical objects to produce **SCP-8340-D**, a class of anomalous hybrid items. Examples of SCP-8340-D include furniture that induces emotional states, objects that produce memory-based responses, or items that alter their weight or texture in relation to the user's mental state.
Due to safety concerns, SCP-8340 is strictly prohibited from collecting samples from **Keter-class** entities.
According to SCP-8340, soul fabric manifests in different visual and tactile forms depending on the being—ranging from cloaks, robes, and dresses to blankets or raw threads—shaped by the subject’s inner nature and metaphysical structure.
**Interviews and Experiment Logs**

**Interview Log 8340-1**
**Date:** ██/██/████
**Interviewer:** Dr. Ardon
**Interviewed:** SCP-8340
_The following interview was conducted on ██/██/████ following SCP-8340’s voluntary agreement to provide historical and metaphysical context regarding its origin and anomalous capabilities. The session was held within its personal containment quarters._
---
**Dr. Ardon:** Good morning. Are you excited about your first interview?
**SCP-8340:** I felt excitement earlier. But now, there is only calmness. Though it's clear you're the excited one.
**Dr. Ardon:** Fair enough. So, what exactly is this “soul fabric” you keep referring to?
**SCP-8340:** The soul is not singular—it is a trinity: the soul itself, the soul fabric, and the soul tag. The soul fabric contains a being’s traits—its essence, its uniqueness. If there is an anomaly, it is born from the fabric, not the soul.
**Dr. Ardon:** And the other parts?
**SCP-8340:** The soul grants shape and form. Without it, nothing manifests. The tag, however, holds one’s past. It is an anchor, binding the soul to this world through the body. Where that tether connects differs from being to being.
**Dr. Ardon:** And how do you cut and shape this soul fabric?
**SCP-8340:** Long ago, our Mother taught us—my kind.
**Dr. Ardon:** You belong to a species? Where are the others? Who was your mother?
**SCP-8340:** There was once a being known by many names: the Seamstress of Seamstresses, the Weaver of Souls, the Tailor of Gods. She designed the garments of divinity. Yet the other gods scorned her—mocked, exiled, and forgot her.
One day, she climbed the Balcony of the Cosmos, a forbidden place. From there, she glimpsed a small mountainous world. Its life had woven bridges between peaks. Trees stretched like arms from mountaintops. Living threads danced in the winds.
She descended. Touched the threads. Loved each one. Built a home of them. Wove the universe’s first garment.
Ages passed. Then we came—the creatures of that planet. We did not understand the garments, but we were drawn to them. We climbed to her. She saw us, and for the first time, she cried.
We watched. We listened. And then one of us spoke a word—a word from her song: “Mother.”
We did not know what it meant. But we repeated it. Again and again. It was warm.
She held us. Sang to us. Built homes. As we grew, we asked her:
> “Teach us, Mother. Show us the soul. Show us how to weave like you.”
She mixed her tears and breath into the rivers and told us to drink.
We did—and saw our souls. Some of us screamed. Some tried to destroy ourselves.
But we adapted. We learned.
We built cities of soul. Vehicles. Monuments. Tools.
Without machines. Without fire.
Just fabric.
We claimed 269 galaxies.
(SCP-8340 falls silent.)
**Dr. Ardon:** And… what caused such an empire to fall?
**SCP-8340:** I want to tell you.
Just… not yet.
**Dr. Ardon:** Of course.
(SCP-8340 remained silent for the next three days.)

> **Interviewer:** Dr. Jon
> **Interviewed:** SCP-8340
> **Date:** ██/██/████
>
> **[BEGIN LOG]**
>
> **Dr. Jon:** Hello. I hope you're doing well today.
> **SCP-8340:** Thank you. I am. And yourself?
> **Dr. Jon:** I’m well, thank you. Alright... I’d like to talk about SCP-8340-D. Do inanimate objects have a soul or soul fabric?
> **SCP-8340:** Yes. In a very simple and primitive form—but yes, they do.
>
> **Dr. Jon:** Does your species exist elsewhere in this universe?
> **SCP-8340:** No. I am the only one here.
>
> **Dr. Jon:** Would you want there to be others of your kind here?
> **SCP-8340:** Do you think I would?
> **Dr. Jon:** I suppose... yes?
> **SCP-8340:** You're mistaken. No, I would not. My kind are no longer the innocent beings they once were. They've become cruel, obsessive, and corrupted.
>
> **Dr. Jon:** Corrupted by whom?
> **SCP-8340:** The Scarlet King. Please don’t ask how... it’s a painful subject.
>
> **Dr. Jon:** The tools you use now—your needles, your scissors, your portable sewing machine—were these made by your species?
> **SCP-8340:** Some of them, yes. They are remnants from long ago. Others I crafted myself, using soul fabrics I gathered upon arriving on Earth.
>
> **Dr. Jon:** Where were you before arriving on Earth? And if it’s not a problem to ask—why did you come to this world?
> **SCP-8340:** I can’t say why I came. But before Earth, I wandered through many galaxies, searching for new fabrics... new souls. Your universe is quite barren, in terms of life.
>
> **Dr. Jon:** What did you feel when you first saw us?
> **SCP-8340:** You reminded me of the early days of my empire. At first, your technology seemed ridiculous. Then I realized you knew nothing of soul fabrics... and that’s when I began to admire your world. Reaching so far without soul fabric? That is worthy of praise.
>
> **Dr. Jon:** Is your current appearance meant to blend in? Or did your kind look like this?
> **SCP-8340:** It's for adaptation. My original form had four fully functional arms, forty fingers for climbing our mountainous world. We had five eyes for expanded perception. We were taller too. To live here, I had to reshape myself... I had to damage my own soul.
>
> **Dr. Jon:** Is there anyone else who can perceive soul fragments like you do?
> **SCP-8340:** I don’t know. There may be… or perhaps not.
>
> **Dr. Jon:** Thank you. You've been very helpful today. See you next time.

**Experiment Log – 8340-H**
**Conducted by:** Dr. Soul
**Involved Entities:** SCP-8340, SCP-049
**Objective:** To determine whether soul fabric is the source of anomalous properties. SCP-8340 was instructed to collect a sample of soul fabric from SCP-049 and create a SCP-8340-A instance (a scarf). The resulting object would be tested on a human subject to observe potential anomalies.
----
**BEGIN LOG**
**Dr. Soul:** Please enter the room, SCP-8340.
**SCP-8340** enters the testing chamber. SCP-049 is seated and restrained.
**SCP-8340:** Greetings. You must be the famous "Plague Doctor," yes?
**SCP-049:** Indeed, I am. Though I'm not sure about being famous. And you are?
**SCP-8340:** I am a Tailor of Souls. I sew the fabrics worn by spirits. I would like to collect a small piece of your soul fabric—if you permit.
**SCP-049:** You can… see the soul? It truly exists?
**SCP-8340:** Yes. Your soul fabric is shaped like a simple cloak. However, your soul tag appears heavily damaged. That is… unfortunate. At least your soul itself is intact.
**SCP-049:** This is difficult to comprehend. You're speaking of things even I don't fully understand.
SCP-8340 explains the concept of the three-part soul: the soul itself, the soul fabric, and the soul tag.
**SCP-8340:** Now that you understand, may I take a sample?
**SCP-049:** You may proceed.
SCP-8340 produces SCP-8340-B (its metaphysical scissors), kneels in front of SCP-049, and snips a ~3×11 cm piece of soul fabric from the lower hem.
**SCP-8340:** Excellent. A good sample.
**SCP-049:** What do you intend to do with it?
**SCP-8340:** I enjoy working with unique fabrics. I will make a fine garment from it.
SCP-8340 exits the chamber. Three hours later, it returns carrying a scarf.
**SCP-8340:** The product is ready. I believe that whoever wears this scarf will temporarily gain some properties of SCP-049.
**Dr. Soul:** Very well. You'll remain present for the duration of the test?
**SCP-8340:** Certainly.
----
**Testing Begins:**
*The scarf is placed in the testing room. Two D-Class personnel (D-1 and D-2) are brought in.*
**Dr. Soul:** D-2, please put on the scarf.
*D-2 complies.
**Dr. Soul:** What do you feel?
**D-2:** My hands are tingling… and shaking a little.
**SCP-8340:** That may be an adjustment period. Give it time.
**Dr. Soul (muted):** You knew that would happen, didn’t you?
**SCP-8340:** I’ve done this hundreds of times. But I understand your protocols.
**Dr. Soul:** What should we expect next?
**SCP-8340:** Wait and see.
After 46 minutes, D-2 reports that the sensations have faded.
**Dr. Soul:** D-2, touch D-1’s arm.
D-2 touches D-1. After 1 minute and 13 seconds, D-1 collapses and displays no vital signs.
**SCP-8340:** D-2, please spit into D-1’s mouth.
D-2 complies. After 4–6 minutes, D-1 revives, though visibly unstable. He remains alive for 3 minutes before expiring again.
----
**RESULTS:**
The scarf (SCP-8340-A) created from SCP-049’s soul fabric temporarily endowed the wearer with anomalous effects, including a lethal touch and limited post-mortem revival. SCP-8340 confirmed that these effects are derived from the nature of the original soul fabric.
