**Classification Notes:**
SCP-???? is temporarily classified as Keter due to its unpredictable manifestations, high risk of widespread psychological trauma, and the impracticality of containment by conventional physical or temporal means. Thaumiel classification will be considered if SCP-???? can be utilized to assist in Foundation dream research or predictive data analysis.
**Special Containment Procedures:**
SCP-???? cannot be contained in any conventional sense, as it exists in a multi-dimensional state—simultaneously an integral part of, and external to, this world. All attempts to contain or remove its branches have resulted in severe psychological trauma to involved personnel. At present, the only viable containment method is the restriction of public access during its manifestations. Its branches relocate on an irregular and unpredictable schedule.
Mobile Task Force Theta-4 ("Gardeners") is assigned to monitor known branch manifestations, while Mobile Task Force Epsilon-17 ("Eyes of Hypnos") has been established to manage dream-related incidents and research efforts associated with SCP-????.
**Description:**
SCP-???? is a transcendental, metaphysical construct most commonly perceived during dreamstates, though it may also be observed during deep meditative or trance-induced states. These methods allow limited research into SCP-????’s properties without the psychological risks associated with direct waking exposure.
SCP-???? appears as a colossal tree, the upper extent of which remains unseen and unreachable, even with the aid of other SCPs. Its appearance varies between observers and is generally imperceptible while awake, though all consistently report a faint silver glimmer outlining its form, regardless of angle or interpretation.
Its branches extend across various dimensions and planes of existence. In the waking world, these branches typically appear illusory and intangible. However, within altered states of consciousness, SCP-???? takes on a corporeal form within the perceiver’s mindspace, allowing for limited, controlled interaction. Protocol Theta-6 ("Dreamcatcher") provides approved induction methods, mnestic buffers, and cognitive filters necessary for safe traversal of SCP-????’s internal dreamspace.
SCP-???? exhibits signs of sentience and will allow individuals who demonstrate respect or reverence to explore its branches freely. These branches appear to contain every dream ever experienced by sentient beings across the universe. They may also host dreams that have not yet been dreamt, suggesting SCP-????’s potential influence over future cognition or probabilistic realities.
Exposure to these unborn dreams can result in severe psychological and emotional trauma, as subjects may encounter individuals, concepts, technologies, or events that do not yet exist. Mnestic treatments and pharmacological intervention have shown some success in mitigating these effects.
Subjects who successfully interact with SCP-???? typically report first encountering dreams recognizable as their own—often recent, recurring, or formative. With continued traversal, individuals tend to locate dreams belonging to close relatives, partners, or significant individuals from their personal history.
As exploration progresses, the scope of accessible dreams expands outward in an apparent concentric pattern, encompassing acquaintances, strangers, and eventually entities or events for which no known correlation to the subject exists. This gradual broadening suggests that SCP-???? organizes or presents dream material in alignment with the subject’s emotional proximity, cognitive familiarity, or mnemonic relevance.
The mechanism by which SCP-???? prioritizes or filters dream access remains unknown, though its consistency across test subjects implies a form of passive cognitive indexing or recognition-based navigation.

**Addendum 00:**
A new humanoid entity, believed to serve as a guardian or caretaker of SCP-????, has been observed. Designated SCP-????-01, this entity does not appear to interact with the waking world and exhibits no physical presence outside of altered cognitive states. However, within the mindspace of a perceiver, SCP-????-01 is fully corporeal and capable of direct interaction.
The entity’s appearance and voice vary between individuals. Most report perceiving SCP-????-01 as a trusted or emotionally significant figure—commonly a parent, mentor, or close loved one. Despite these variations, its demeanor is consistently calm, watchful, and protective. It also displays a shared curiosity and gentle disposition toward those who approach SCP-???? with respect or reverence.
SCP-????-01 appears to possess intimate knowledge of SCP-????’s internal structure and function, though it offers limited information unprompted. Its primary behaviors include guiding, observing, and—if necessary—repelling individuals it perceives as threats to SCP-???? or as attempting to exploit it.
Following the manifestation of this entity, the Tree itself has been relabeled SCP-????-00, and all associated documentation has been updated to reflect this change.
----
**Addendum 01:**
Due to the nature of SCP-???? and the potential psychological and emotional hazards associated with exposure, access is strictly prohibited to non-assigned personnel without explicit authorization from the O5 Council. All approved personnel must be accompanied by a member of either MTF Epsilon-17 ("Eyes of Hypnos") or MTF Theta-4 ("Gardeners") during any interaction with, or observation of, SCP-????. A full psychiatric evaluation is required both prior to and following any such exposure.
----
**Addendum 02:**
Following extended analysis and internal review, the O5 Council has determined that while SCP-???? possesses traits consistent with a Thaumiel-class designation, such reclassification will not be granted at this time.
----
**Addendum 03: (Update to Addendum 01)**
Access to SCP-???? is henceforth restricted to personnel with Level 3 security clearance or higher. Exceptions may be granted on a case-by-case basis to Level 2 personnel who demonstrate exceptional qualifications and receive approval from both project leadership and the overseeing Site Director.

**Addendum 4: Interview Log**
**Interview 1:**
**Interviewed:** D-2932
**Interviewer:** Dr. ████
**Date:** ██/██/20██
**Location:** Site-23, Interview Room 3C
<Begin Log>
**Dr. ████:** So, you saw your own dreams at first?
**D-2932:** Yes, sir. I experienced my own dreams again. It felt surreal — like reliving moments I thought were long gone.
**Dr. ████:** But then they… changed? Can you describe how they shifted?
**D-2932:** Other people started appearing — people who weren’t there initially. The stories began to shift, and before I knew it… they weren’t my dreams anymore.
**Dr. ████:** How did experiencing other people’s dreams make you feel?
**D-2932:** It was… strange. Not entirely unpleasant, aside from the nightmares. But it didn’t feel natural.
**Dr. ████:** Have you been able to recover since?
**D-2932:** Somewhat. But I’m having trouble keeping track of which dreams are mine and which aren’t anymore.

**Interview 2:**
**Interviewed:** D-2932
**Interviewer:** Dr. ████
**Date:** ██/██/██
**Location:** Site-23, Interview Room 3C
<Begin Log>
**Dr. ████:** So… what changed?
**D-2932:** I saw a dream. One of mine… or at least, it felt like it was. But I didn’t recognize it. I swear I hadn’t dreamed it before. And yet, it was so vivid. Too vivid. Like a memory I hadn’t lived yet.
**Dr. ████:** You believe it was a future dream?
**D-2932:** I—I don’t know. It felt personal. Familiar in a way I can’t explain. But if it hasn’t happened yet… then why do I remember how it felt?
**Dr. ████:** Can you describe it?
**D-2932:** It was raining. I was standing in the street, in front of a house I didn’t recognize. But I //knew// someone was inside. Someone important. I started crying, and I didn’t know why. That part felt more real than anything else I’ve seen in there.
**Dr. ████:** Was there any indication of when the dream was supposed to occur?
**D-2932:** No dates, no calendars. Just a feeling—like it was close. Like it’s waiting for me to catch up.
**Dr. ████:** How did the Tree respond?
**D-2932:** It didn’t stop me. But I could feel it watching. Not angry. Just… cautious. Like it was asking me if I was sure.
**Dr. ████:** And were you?
**D-2932:** I thought I was. Now? I’m not so sure. I haven’t dreamed since.
**Dr. ████:** Since the last traversal?
**D-2932:** Since //that// dream. It’s like everything else got pushed out.
**Dr. ████:** Understood. That will be all for now.

**Addendum 05: Research Log Compilation — Dr. ████**
**Compiled by:** Dr. ████
**Date:** ██/██/20██
**Subject:** SCP-????-00 (The Tree of Dreams) and SCP-????-01
----
**Observation Summary:**
Over ██ weeks of directed research, SCP-????-00 has exhibited consistent patterns across dream traversal sessions. Subjects tend to encounter dreams in concentric proximity to personal familiarity — beginning with their own, followed by familial, social, and ultimately abstract or unknown dreamscapes. These observations remain consistent across 94% of test cases.
**Notable Events:**
- //Interview Log 1:// D-2932 reported initial traversal of self-owned dreams, followed by “corrupted” or unfamiliar versions of recurring nightmares.
- //Interview Log 2:// Same subject later described an unfamiliar-yet-familiar dream he had //not// previously experienced, suggesting SCP-????-00 permits access to temporally nonlinear content.
**Cognitive Hazards:**
Subjects exposed to unborn or foreign dreamscapes frequently exhibit difficulty distinguishing memory from fabrication. Prolonged exposure (beyond ~7 minutes of subjective time) correlates with:
- Intrusion of unrelated dream memories during wakefulness
- Disrupted REM cycles
- Emotional derealization or disassociation
Mnestic treatments reduce these effects in most cases, but recovery is not universal.
**On SCP-????-01:**
Subject first appeared to D-2932 during his third traversal, taking the form of a deceased loved one. Entity is interactive only within the mindspace and appears to function as a stabilizing mechanism or guardian. SCP-????-01 displays:
- Adaptive visual and verbal cues based on subject familiarity
- Refusal to answer direct inquiries regarding SCP-????-00’s origin
- Calm but firm opposition to exploitative or forceful actions
**Working Hypotheses:**
- SCP-????-00 is partially sentient and may engage in a filtering or testing process.
- SCP-????-01 is either a projection of SCP-????-00’s will or a distinct semi-autonomous cognitive construct.
- Dreams labeled “unborn” may represent possible futures, discarded timelines, or unrealized potential — though causality remains unverified.
**Recommended Action:**
- Continue testing with enhanced mnestic support
- Limit exposure durations to <10 subjective minutes
- Conduct joint dream sessions to determine shared cognition thresholds
**Recommended Classification:** Keter (pending review)
**Final Note:**
The Tree does not offer its knowledge freely. It watches, learns, and — I believe — waits. Whether it waits //for us//, or //because of us//, remains to be seen.
— Dr. ████

**Addendum 06: Directive from O5-██**
Following multiple failed attempts to harness SCP-???? as a tool for precognition or predictive advantage, all such research and applications are hereby terminated effective immediately. The potential risks—psychological damage to personnel, unforeseen temporal paradoxes, and destabilization of SCP-????’s structure—are deemed unacceptable.
Any further efforts to exploit SCP-???? for financial or strategic gain will result in immediate disciplinary action, including reassignment or termination.
