SCP-9752 – "Psychology Glasses"
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-9752 is to be stored in a sealed container at Site-17's Secure Storage Wing, Unit-4. Access to SCP-9752 is restricted to Level 3 personnel and above. Any experimentation must be approved by Dr. Gagi and must be conducted under full psychological supervision. Under no circumstances is SCP-9752 to be worn by D-Class personnel with a history of violent tendencies or diagnosed psychopathy.
Should SCP-9752 be found adhered to a subject, surgical intervention is permitted only under the direction of a Site Medical Chief. Any detached organic material must be incinerated.
Description:
SCP-9752 is a standard-issue black "aviator-style" police sunglasses with metallic arms and mirrored lenses. SCP-9752 exhibits no outward anomalies when not worn. Upon contact with a human subject, its effects vary depending on the subject's psychological state:
Neutral or Kind Individuals: Able to wear and remove SCP-9752 without issue. Report SCP-9752 as “slightly warm” but otherwise normal.
Highly Empathetic or Morally Driven Individuals: Express an intense desire to wear SCP-9752. Upon wearing it, they begin perceiving certain people as “inhuman” or “monstrous,” often describing visual hallucinations such as distorted faces, leaking mouths, or black eyes. These subjects frequently engage in violent actions under the belief that they are “delivering justice.”
Malicious or Psychologically Unstable Individuals: Upon wearing SCP-9752, they become overwhelmed with a sudden, compulsive urge to self-harm or commit suicide. If not restrained, these subjects terminate themselves within 5–10 minutes. Some record last words expressing guilt or fear, though none mention hallucinations.
Once SCP-9752 is worn by a subject of the second or third category, the arms of the glasses begin bonding to the subject’s skin, often fusing with the ears and temple regions. Removal requires surgical cutting of the adhered skin. Removed flesh typically falls off SCP-9752 moments after separation, and the glasses return to their original state, ready to affect another subject.
SCP-9752 was recovered from an unused archival room in the [REDACTED] Police Department in 1987 following a series of homicides committed by an officer named Lieutenant John █████. A full interview was conducted after his detainment by embedded Foundation agents.
Addendum 9752-A – Interview Log
> Date: 18/07/1987
Location: Site-17 Interview Room 3
Interviewer: Dr. ████
Subject: Lt. John █████
Note: This transcript was recorded under Class-A surveillance protocols. Subject was under SCP-9752 influence at time of interview.
<BEGIN LOG>
Dr. ████: Good evening, Lieutenant John. You seem… surprisingly calm.
Lt. John: Calm comes when you finally see the truth, Doctor.
Dr. ████: You’re referring to the glasses?
Lt. John: I found them in an old room. Back wing of the station. Full of dust, files, no one had touched it for years. No one even noticed I went in. But when I opened the drawer, there they were. Like they had been waiting.
Dr. ████: What made you put them on?
Lt. John: I didn’t want to. I needed to. The moment I touched them, I knew they belonged to me. And when I put them on…
Dr. ████: What happened?
Lt. John: Silence. Then clarity. I looked at my coworkers, my friends… and they weren’t human anymore. Their eyes were wrong. Their mouths moved wrong. They were hiding behind masks. Monsters. Criminals. The glasses showed me what they really were.
Dr. ████: Did you attempt to remove the glasses?
Lt. John: At first. But they didn’t want to leave. They fused to me. My skin… my bone. I tried pulling once. I felt my ear tear.
Dr. ████: What would happen if someone truly evil wore them?
Lt. John: (long pause) They wouldn’t see monsters. They’d see themselves. And they’d want to end it. The glasses don’t forgive.
Dr. ████: What do you think they want?
Lt. John: Justice. Or maybe… just a vessel.
Dr. ████: What happens now?
Lt. John: Now they wait. You’ll see. If they call to you… you’ll understand.
