**Item #:** SCP-XXXX — Threshold Loss
**Special Containment Procedures:**
There is currently no known method of containing SCP-XXXX. Containment is deemed infeasible due to SCP-XXXX’s apparent omnipresence within all architecture. Any structure involving spatial division and passageways is a potential host.
**Description:**
SCP-XXXX manifests when an individual transitions between spatial environments, such as moving from one room to another. The phenomenon has been observed with thresholds including doors, elevators, hatches, and open archways. Its effects include mild confusion and complete memory loss of the SCP-XXXX encounter. SCP-XXXX exhibits antimemetic properties, preventing any direct observation or preservation of data during its occurrence.
All knowledge regarding SCP-XXXX is based on indirect evidence and inductive reasoning derived from comparing test objectives and outcomes. Analysis suggests SCP-XXXX can manifest universally and concurrently in multiple locations.
Subjects exposed multiple times to SCP-XXXX report recurring nightmares and persistent paranoia. While no other symptoms have been conclusively linked, Dr. Mercer notes that further effects may be obscured by SCP-XXXX’s antimemetic influence.
> "I have to say, it is weird that we only chose test subjects that already suffered from anxiety or depression for testing this SCP. What if they didn't have it before we started testing and we only remember it that way? We know that SCP-XXXX is capable of something like that. Or at least, we think we know. Hell, who knows what we actually know and what we think we know."
> — Dr. Mercer
In rare cases, SCP-XXXX has resulted in the apparent total erasure of individuals. Victims are classified as Type-U disappearances, or "Unperson" cases. These events are marked by complete loss of the subject's identity from all memory, documentation, and physical reality. It is unclear whether this is a literal erasure or a powerful memetic distortion mimicking the effect of such an event.
Mnestic testing has yielded limited results:
* **Class W, X, and Y mnestics:** No measurable effect.
* **Reality anchors:** No effect on their own or when combined with mnestics.
* **Class Z mnestics:** Inconclusive. (See Addendum XXXX.4)
All Kant counter readings during SCP-XXXX events were lost or corrupted. Whether SCP-XXXX manipulates reality or merely perception remains unknown.
The proposal to dismantle or destroy all instances of spatial architecture as a means of containment was formally proposed and subsequently dismissed due to its impracticality, catastrophic socio-economic consequences, and a Foundation-wide consensus that such action would be, quote, “Too dumb to even consider.”
Time appears to continue normally during SCP-XXXX events. Data gaps of approximately 3.5 seconds are typical, aligning with the memory loss and confusion reported by subjects. It is believed SCP-XXXX is active during this window.

"Addendum 4 should absolutely be included. Class Z doesn’t cause hallucinations. Whatever she saw, it was real. This should be classified Apollyon. We can't contain it, and everyone is at risk of being erased from existence.
Since I noticed it happening to me, I’ve had the dreams too. What if I don’t wake up one day because I was never real? No funeral, no name, no face.
If we redact information, there is at least a gap, something that once was.
This is like never having read the damn thing. Just pure, permanent non-being."

Due to the implications of Addenda XXXX.4 and XXXX.5, all further testing involving SCP-XXXX has been terminated. Due to the apparent impossibility of containment and quote, "horrifying inevitability for its victims," further interaction with SCP-XXXX has been deemed an unnecessary and unjustifiable risk to personnel morale and safety. No further addenda are to be added unless viable containment is achieved.
