Noting that new site member
KDL Ghost (account age 8 days, site membership 7 days) recently coldposted the following page, which has multiple indicators of AI-generation: https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-8159
**Item #:** SCP-8159 - "Phantom Fire Ants"
**Object Class:** EUCLID
====================================================================
**Special Containment Procedures:**
**SCP-8159** colonies are to be contained within hermetically sealed, transparent enclosures lined with ultraviolet-reactive coating (to track movement). All personnel handling **SCP-8159** must wear full-body Hazmat suits and Class IV anti-venom injectors.
Any wild infestations are to be located via thermal drones and eradicated via extreme heat or cold. **WARNING: USE OF CHEMICALS ARE STICTLY PROHIBITED**. Due to **SCP-8159** having a likely origin due to an anomalous chemical it is highly advised not to risk them coming into contact with other chemicals as it is uncertain whether it will have unforeseen effects. Civilians exposed to **SCP-8159** bites are to be administered amnestics and quarantined until venom toxicity is confirmed non-lethal.
====================================================================
**Description:**
**SCP-8159** is a mutated variant of //Solenopsis invicta// **(red imported fire ant)** exhibiting:
• Near-perfect optical cloaking (light refraction via chitinous nanostructures).
• Neurotoxic venom (LD50 of 0.3 mg/kg; causes paralysis and hemorrhagic fever in humans).
• Electrostatic sensitivity (discharges reveal them as faint, shimmering distortions).
**SCP-8159** colonies reproduce 40% faster than baseline fire ants and exhibit hive intelligence, deliberately targeting mammals for venom testing.
====================================================================
**Discovery:**
**Date: ██/██/2022**
**Location: ██████ State Park**
The Foundation was alerted after ██ civilians in ██████ State Park reported "invisible stings" followed by systemic organ failure. Special MTF Agents were on hand with thermal visors and were able to contain the threat, eliminating most of the colony and capturing a small part including the queen. Later a team of researchers identified the unique chemicals found in the ants were an exact match to the one found after an incident that occurred in an SCP lab with the then un-named SCP ████ (a chemical created entirely by chance and was presumed to be the only of its kind in existence).
As a result, a conclusion was made that there were only two possibilities. The first was that someone had stolen the rare chemical and used it to create the ants or that the initial report on incident ██████ was wrong. The ants in that enclosure had not died but were in fact created in that moment. Invisible ants could easily walk through the gaping hole that was left in the wall after that incident and with the nearby forest it's easy to imagine what happened next. This however is currently under investigation as the thought of infiltration, while unlikely in this case, is still a heavy concern.
====================================================================
**Incident 0175-1 ("The Phantom Swarm")**
On ██/██/2022, **SCP-8159** infiltrated a ██████ small campsite. Within 2 hours, 14 people were fatally envenomated. An SCP agent embedded as a park ranger heard stories about people running and screaming feeling like they had ants all over their body before collapsing and succumbing to multiple bites. Special MTF Agents deployed used thermals that showed there were in fact ants on the victims bodies but they could not be seen by the naked eye. A portion of ants and the queen were kept and the rest were incinerated using flamethrowers. Surviving civilians were given medical treatment and administered amnestics.
**Notable Quote:**
"We didn’t see them—just people collapsing, their skin turning black where the bites were. We thought people were going crazy trying to wipe of themselves when there was nothing there."
—Ms. █████, surviving camper
====================================================================
**Containment Protocol:**
**Detection:** Thermal goggles, Hazmat Suits, Drones to detect large swarms.
**Eradication:** Flame throwers and Cryo Grenades. Extreme heat or cold neutralizes the target.
**Research:** Attempts to synthesize an **SCP-8159** "queen pheromone" for bait traps are ongoing.
**Addendum 8159-1:**
**SCP-8159** has spread to ██ U.S. states and ██ countries via cargo shipments. Global sterilization efforts are underway under cover story **"Invasive Ant Fungus Control."**
====================================================================
**Threat Level:**
**INDIVIDUAL:** Low (single bites are treatable with antivenom).
**COLONY:** Critical (a single undetected hive can depopulate a town in 72 hours).
//**Proposed Upgrade to Keter pending further ecological impact analysis.**//
