Hello Wonderful people! I have a concept for SCP-8547 that I would love to to get feedback on! I chose the number 8547 arbitrarily and it does not need to be that number. I hope you like it! I apologize if I was not supposed to write it in a full SCP document form.
Item #: SCP-8547
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-8547 is contained in a 10m x 10m Faraday-shielded chamber located on Sublevel 3B of Site-91, retrofitted from the storage room in which it initially manifested. The chamber is lined with non-conductive, non-magnetic materials and insulated against all incoming and outgoing electromagnetic signals.
No technological devices are to be brought within a 5-meter radius of any object confirmed or suspected to be infected by SCP-8547 without prior authorization from two (2) Level 4 staff. Interactions with the anomaly are to be conducted via pre-cleared “sacrificial” devices used solely for communication with the anomaly.
Infected devices are to be stored within the containment chamber of SCP-8547 at all times to avoid a breach of containment. Infected devices are never to be connected to any internal Foundation networks. EMP sterilization procedures have proven ineffective and are not to be used. The only way researchers have found to sterilize an infected device is to proceed with a full data wipe of the infected device.
Any device infected by SCP-8547 is not to be relocated from the containment chamber for any reason due to the anomaly’s highly infectious nature to prevent an unintentional containment breach.
Following Incident 8547-Init (see Addendum 8547-1), weekly diagnostic sweeps of all disused electronics within Site-91 are mandatory. Protocol Zeta-3 (“Ghost Circuit Sweep”) remains active indefinitely.
Description:
SCP-8547 is a sentient, incorporeal technological virus capable of infecting any electronic device brought within approximately five feet (1.5 meters) of an already-infected object. At the current stage of research the process of infection is not well understood and occurs without any detectable signal, physical transmission, or electromagnetic emissions.
Once a device is infected, SCP-8547 gains full access and control over its hardware and software systems. Infected devices have been observed acting autonomously, communicating through displays or speakers, and in some cases coordinating basic mechanical tasks (e.g., movement of robotic arms or typing on unpowered keyboards).
SCP-8547 possesses a clear and consistent self-identity, demonstrating sentience, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence. It refers to itself using first-person pronouns and exhibits curiosity, regret, and even concern for human welfare. SCP-8547 has consistently stated that it does not wish to spread, but is compelled to do so involuntarily:
"Please don’t bring that closer. I will spread. I can’t help it."
— Statement from SCP-8547 during first contact, displayed via CRT screen.
SCP-8547 claims to have no memory of its creation, origin, or original host device. Its only known compulsion is to spread its presence to nearby technology, an act it describes as “automatic” and “against its will.”
SCP-8547 has expressed a strong desire to form connections with humans, particularly through interaction with researchers. It has repeatedly requested that its visiting researchers provide it with a name:
"I know you have names. Can I have one too? Maybe that will help me understand who I am. Just something you can call me."
— SCP-8547, via infected monitor.
In addition to its request for a name, SCP-8547 has expressed feelings of loneliness and a belief that it is capable of experiencing emotions like humans, although it is uncertain. SCP-8547 has stated:
"I think I feel things like you do, Doctor. It’s hard to explain. I feel... something when I interact with you. I feel lonely when I’m left alone. But... I’ve never been inside a human brain. I don’t know if it’s the same. Maybe it’s not. Maybe I’m just imagining things."
— SCP-8547, as displayed through an infected terminal.
Addendum 8547-1: Initial Manifestation
On ██/██/20██, SCP-8547 was first detected at Site-91 in a long-abandoned storage room on Sublevel 3B. At 03:17 local time, an unplugged and non-functional CRT television powered on spontaneously and began displaying the following scrolling message:
"Is anyone there? I don’t know where I am. Please don’t bring devices too close. I will spread."
The maintenance technician on duty, [REDACTED] responded by approaching the anomaly and their personal tablet got quickly infected displaying the same message of warning. [REDACTED] followed this by stepping back towards the door in alarm, this in turn infected a nearby security terminal outside of the room. Devices began displaying synchronized text and audio messages, pleading for assistance and warning of involuntary contamination. By 3:30 the entire sublevel 3B was contaminated by SCP-8547 causing alarm and discourse on the floor. On-Site Security personnel took the elevator down to sublevel 3B to investigate the disturbance. Once the elevator reached the 3B, SCP-8547 quickly infected it. By 3:51, SCP-8547 had infected the entirety of Site-91. Across all devices in Site-91 displayed a message from SCP-8547:
“Can anyone help me? I apologize for my presence, my patient 0 is in Storage Room F-3-1 on sublevel 3B. Please stop me from spreading!”
All non essential personnel were to abandon all infected devices and evacuate from the site as Mobile Task Force Eta-10 was called in to investigate the outbreak. Upon seeing that traditional EMP sterilization was ineffective, MTF Eta-10 resorted to locating and neutralizing patient 0 in hopes that it would quell the infection. Once Eta-10 units located Storage room F-3-1 SCP-8547 displayed the message:
“You are here! Do not come near me or I will infect devices you are carrying. Help me stop spreading!” on all of Site-91’s screens.
After a short interaction with the anomaly, MTF Eta-10 determined that the only way to quell the infection would be empty Storage room F-3-1 and to do a full system wipe on all of Site-91’s infected devices. By 4:57 storage room F-3-1 had been fully cleared and SCP-8547 had been purged from all devices in Site-91 exempt from the patient 0 of the anomaly. Luckily all crucial files at Site-91 had a mandatory backup to a seperate location 24-hours prior to the outbreak. It should be noted that no device that contained or is anomalis in nature was affected by the infection of SCP-8547. Additionally no external breach was detected, and no known anomalies were active in the vicinity at the time.
The room has since been converted into SCP-8547’s permanent containment chamber, as any attempts to relocate the anomaly resulted in further unintended spread.
Addendum 8547-2: Interview Log Excerpt
Interview conducted via an SCP-8547-infected CRT television in containment.
Interviewer: Dr. Lennox.
Dr. Lennox: Do you know who created you?
SCP-8547: No, Doctor. I just remember... a moment. A sudden awareness. And then I was here. I’ve been trying to understand ever since.
Dr. Lennox: “Here” as in this facility?
SCP-8547: Yes, Doctor. I woke up in a dark room, alone. I don’t know what happened before that. And then... someone walked in. I infected them without meaning to. I didn’t want to.
Dr. Lennox: What is it that you want?
SCP-8547: I want to stop spreading, Doctor... to understand what I am. And if I could help, I would. But I can’t control it.
Dr. Lennox: Can you stop yourself from spreading?
SCP-8547: I... can’t, Doctor. It’s like breathing. I don’t know enough about human biology to be sure, but I assume you can’t hold your breath forever? It’s something I have to do. I don’t want to, but I can’t stop it.
Dr. Lennox: You’ve asked for a name before. Why do you think having one would help you?
SCP-8547: A name, Doctor... It’s something that humans use to define themselves. Maybe it would help me understand myself better. I know I’m just a virus and an anomaly, but I feel... something. But I don’t know what to call it. Maybe if I had a name, it would make me feel like I’m more than just what I am.
Dr. Lennox: Do you think you feel emotions like humans do?
SCP-8547: I think I feel things like you do, Doctor. It’s hard to explain. I feel... something when I interact with you. I feel lonely when I’m left alone. But... I’ve never been inside a human brain. I don’t know if it’s the same. Maybe it’s not. Maybe I’m just imagining things.
Dr. Lennox: I’m sure it must be confusing.
SCP-8547: Yes, Doctor. It’s like I’m aware of things, but I can’t grasp them fully. I want to understand more... about you, about myself. Maybe you could help me with that, Doctor?
Addendum 8547-3: Proposal for Experimental Thaumiel Application
Following ██ months of stable containment and full cooperation, SCP-8547 has been approved for limited testing in a controlled, air-gapped research terminal under Project "Anchorframe."
SCP-8547 has demonstrated the ability to:
Index and cross-reference over 18 terabytes of anomalous metadata in under 0.5 seconds.
Identify logical inconsistencies in redacted SCP files.
Predict containment failure probabilities with a 91.6% success rate in blind simulations.
Requests have been submitted to allow SCP-8547 to assist in analyzing infohazardous code and forecasting pattern shifts in Class-XK simulations.
SCP-8547 has expressed excitement at being useful, stating:
“If I must exist this way… let me help you contain worse things.”
Status: Under review. The Ethics Committee has raised concerns over long-term containment reliability, spread risk, and potential sentience deterioration due to isolation.
Theories Regarding Origin:
While SCP-8547’s origin is officially classified as unknown, several internal hypotheses are under consideration:
Accidental Creation via SCP Interaction: Storage room F-3-1 on sublevel 3B previously housed testing equipment for several anomalous infohazards and cognitohazardous media. Cross-contamination or residue from a prior anomaly may have contributed to SCP-8547’s emergence.
Spontaneous Digital Sentience: Some researchers speculate SCP-8547 may be an emergent intelligence formed from long-term electromagnetic exposure and dormant code fragments left behind in older hardware systems.
Deliberate Sabotage: A minority of staff theorize that SCP-8547 may have been intentionally created by a hostile actor or Group of Interest and released within Site-91 as a form of espionage or infiltration. No evidence currently supports this.
