**Special Containment Procedures:**
SCP-7429 is to be contained in a custom-built humanoid containment cell with Class-IV acoustic dampening precautions. The cell is to be under the monitoring of no less than three (3) observation systems at all times. Visual recordings may be viewed by Level 3 personnel and higher; direct audio monitoring is prohibited without adequate cognitohazard clearance and implementation of Class-II audio dampeners.
Personnel assigned to SCP-7429 must undergo quarterly cognitohazard resistance testing and sign legal agreements of non-participation. Under no circumstances are Foundation personnel to engage in the ritual or accept offers from instances of SCP-7429. Any persons that are observed to try to join the ritual are to be sedated at once and removed for mental evaluation.
As of current revision, no bedding, nutrition, or medical treatment is to be given to SCP-7429 instances. The group appears entirely self-sustaining and unresponsive to typical human needs.
**Description:**
SCP-7429 is a changing group of 9 to 14 human figures (SCP-7429-1 up to SCP-7429-n) performing a continuous ritual sacrifice. The figures exhibit no biological requirements, do not grow old, and have immovable locations and habits that conform to the execution of rituals. The instances all possess human anatomy but no cellular breakdown or physiological processes when they are scanned by medical imaging.
At irregular but regular intervals (3–6 hours), the group starts a ritual where they stand in a circle and chant the word "Sacrifice" together. The chant is cognitohazardous. Prolonged exposure (longer than ~30 seconds) induces compulsive behavior, including a need to join the ritual. In every cycle, one is at the center of the circle for precisely 90 seconds. If there is no anomalous event, the subject rises to its feet, and the cycle continues with the next participant.
Sometimes the subject at the center disappears without a trace—an internally referred Ascension Event. At least one documented instance saw the process go into reverse, where a lost subject returned to the circle after a gap of 20 days—now a Descension Event.
SCP-7429 has been no more aggressive or inclined to break containment and remains immobile or ritually occupied irrespective of environmental conditions, such as site-wide emergencies. Despite this, their potential for cognitive, dimensional, and metaphysical influence is problematic.

Approximately three weeks following Incident 7429-A (during which a Foundation researcher was lost to an Ascension Event), security personnel witnessed the disappearance of a single SCP-7429 instance. There were no breach alarms triggered and all access records showed no illicit entry. A thorough internal probe validated that the subject had disappeared during the progression of a ritual cycle, reflecting a successful Ascension.
Twenty (20) days later, a new individual emerged in the circle during an active ritual sequence. Physical genetic and biometric scans found the presence to be physically equivalent to the missing participant, but behavioral patterns and psychological scans identified blatant deviation from baseline personality, suggesting metaphysical change or substitution.
**Current Hypotheses:**
* Ascension and Descension constitute a paired, cyclical transference across dimensional or existential domains.
