**Special Containment Procedures:**SCP-8162 is to be contained in a 1 m × 1 m × 1 m reinforced steel cube located in Secure Containment Chamber-43 at Site-22. No electronic devices of any kind are permitted within 1 meter of the containment chamber. All personnel entering or exiting the area must undergo a full contraband search.
Entry into the containment chamber requires Level 4 clearance and written authorization from the on-site director. A minimum of two armed security personnel (Level 4 or higher) must be stationed outside the chamber at all times. Direct contact with SCP-8162 is strictly prohibited outside of approved testing procedures.
**Description:**SCP-8162 is a pink, unmarked Foundation security keycard with a single phrase engraved on its surface:
> "Does the Chrismon Sun Sing?"
Upon contact with any technological device, SCP-8162 will immediately destroy the device. The mechanism by which this occurs is currently unknown, as all monitoring equipment ceases to function in its presence. However, this effect does not apply to Foundation doors, which instead become permanently locked in their current state until further contact with SCP-8162.
Prolonged exposure to SCP-8162 leads to severe cognitive and physiological degradation. Individuals who come into direct contact with SCP-8162 for more than several minutes begin to experience auditory distortions, changes in perceived language, and the appearance of distant bright lights. Subjects frequently report the sensation of invisible restraints (usually described as "chains") encircling their limbs.
Extended contact results in the emergence of SCP-8162-2 — human subjects exhibiting irreversible neurological alterations. SCP-8162-2 instances require constant contact with SCP-8162 to maintain sentience; removal leads to immediate cardiac arrest and cerebral necrosis. Instances are often observed murmuring indecipherable phrases in no known language and report hallucinations of a radiant presence accompanied by whispers inviting them to "join us in the light."
After approximately three weeks of continuous exposure, SCP-8162-2’s dermal layers begin to dissolve, followed by muscular and skeletal degradation. This process culminates in the subject’s complete liquefaction into a viscous, pinkish organic fluid. Attempts to revive or restore SCP-8162-2 instances after this point have universally failed.
SCP-8162 appears inert when exposed to non-human biological entities. In Test Log 8162-A, a chimpanzee was placed in prolonged proximity to the object with no observable effect. Testing with non-human primates has since been suspended.
**Addendum 8162-01 Testing Moratorium:**Due to the high risk of irreversible psychological damage and subject mortality, all testing involving SCP-8162 has been indefinitely suspended without express approval from the Site-22 Director.
**Note from Dr. Vahlen:**
> “I don’t care what the phrase means. Anyone who touches it starts dreaming in languages we don’t speak and seeing stars we don’t map. Lock it up and leave it alone.”
