**Item #**: SCP-8517
**Object Class**: Keter
**Special Containment Procedures**: Sensing systems to monitor the room at all times. Standard visual observation methods are ineffective due to the nature of SCP-8517’s abilities. The chamber is to be reinforced with dense, non-reflective materials to minimize the chances of accidental exposure.
Access to SCP-8517 is prohibited without Level 4 clearance and approval from Site-██ personnel. Any individual entering the containment area must undergo an extensive psychological evaluation before and after exposure to SCP-8571’s phenomenon. Personnel are also to undergo mandatory psychological reconditioning after exposure to prevent any long-term effects from interacting with SCP-8517’s reality-distorting capabilities.
**Description**: SCP-8517 is an anomalous mirror measuring 2.5 meters in height and 1.5 meters in width, composed of an unknown, reflective material that appears to shimmer and distort in ways that the human eye cannot naturally perceive. This mirror does not reflect the world in its conventional form. Instead, it reveals the existence of entities and phenomena beyond the visible spectrum, displaying creatures and entities that cannot be seen by the naked human eye.
When an individual gazes into SCP-8517 (more than 30 seconds), they begin to perceive lifeforms and landscapes that exist in dimensions and frequencies outside of normal human sight. These creatures, though imperceptible to the human eye in the real world, seem to cohabitate with our own world in an unseen parallel space. These entities are diverse, ranging from vaguely humanoid shapes to entirely alien biological forms that seem to warp, stretch, and pulsate in ways that defy conventional biology. The creatures typically remain out of the viewer's immediate reach but can interact with objects within their visible realm in strange and abstract manners.
Some creatures observed in SCP-8517’s reflections appear to have bizarre physical traits, including shifting mass, limbs with no fixed positions, or forms that seem to emerge and dissipate at irregular intervals. Occasionally, viewers have reported seeing glimpses of intelligent beings who seem to observe the viewer, maintaining eye contact through the mirror, though no direct communication has been established. These entities often seem to be aware of the viewer, and some have demonstrated what could be considered hostile or predatory behaviour, attempting to breach the mirror's barrier and reach into the physical world.
SCP-8517’s most disturbing property is its ability to cause psychological distress in individuals who view it for extended periods. Individuals exposed to SCP-8517 may experience intense hallucinations or nightmares involving these invisible creatures and often report an overwhelming sense of being watched or followed. Prolonged exposure may lead to irreversible psychological damage, with some affected personnel exhibiting signs of severe paranoia, delusional thinking, and psychosis.
Additionally, it has been theorised that the entities observed in SCP-8517 may be able to influence the physical world in subtle ways. Instances of objects moving seemingly on their own, or minor distortions in reality that align with the perceived behaviors of the creatures, have been documented. These anomalies appear to be correlated with the viewer's prolonged exposure and growing connection to the dimensional rift.
The origin of SCP-8517 is currently unknown, and its true nature remains a subject of active research. There is currently no known method of permanently blocking or sealing SCP-8517’s anomalous reflections from human observation. Research continues into whether SCP-8517 is a conduit to a higher-dimensional space or simply a complex manipulation of visual perception.

**Item #**: SCP-████
**Object Class**: Keter
**Special Containment Procedures**:
SCP-████ is to be contained in a reinforced subterranean chamber at Site-██, accessible only via a triple-sealed airlock system. No fewer than two (2) armed guards are to be stationed outside the chamber at all times. Direct access to SCP-████ requires written approval from no fewer than three (3) Level 4 personnel. Opening SCP-████ for testing or exploration is suspended indefinitely following Incident ████-7.
The chamber housing SCP-████ is to be monitored continuously via remote drone surveillance. Any unauthorized attempt to interact with SCP-████ will result in immediate lockdown and termination of involved personnel.
Under no circumstances is SCP-████ to be opened without full containment protocols in place for potential XK-Class or CK-Class scenario mitigation.
**Description**:
SCP-████ is a freestanding wooden door, measuring 2.1 meters in height and 0.9 meters in width, with an ornate brass handle. The door is not attached to any wall, frame, or foundation and remains upright without external support.
When SCP-████ is opened, it reveals an interior room that did not previously exist. The architecture, contents, size, and physical laws of these rooms vary drastically between openings. Once the door is closed and reopened, the previous room is no longer accessible and is presumed erased from existence, though this is unconfirmed.
To date, SCP-████ has been opened **1,613** times, producing **1,613** unique rooms. Of these:
• **124** rooms have been classified as "Highly Dangerous," containing hostile entities, extreme environmental hazards, or cognitohazards.
• **3** rooms have resulted in near or active XK-Class End-of-the-World scenarios. See Addendum ████-E for details.
• **1** room (Room #484) was entirely void. All visual, auditory, and temporal input ceased upon entry. The D-Class personnel who entered did not return. Audio logs captured 7 minutes of silence before total signal loss. Attempts to probe the void room have failed.
The remaining rooms vary from mundane (e.g., a 1950s diner staffed by non-anomalous automatons) to mildly anomalous (e.g., a room that played "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" until the door was closed).
Notable Rooms:
• Room #048: A library filled with books describing the life stories of individuals who do not exist in any known timeline or database. Reading more than three titles caused complete memory overwrite in testing personnel.
• Room #112: Contained an ocean with no visible bottom. The water was breathable. A D-Class floated for 17 minutes before vanishing. A live whale skeleton was observed suspended midair above the water.
• Room #721: Interior of a spacecraft orbiting an unknown planet. No stars visible. An automated distress signal transmitted in binary stated: "This is Earth. Please come home."
• Room #1029: A fully equipped version of Site-██ with no personnel. Monitors displayed live feeds of current SCP facilities. Attempts to communicate with observed "mirror" sites failed.
• Room #1378: [DATA EXPUNGED] resulted in a Level 4 containment breach and ██ casualties. Re-classified under Threat Level Omega.
**Addendum ████-E**
Room #666: A pastoral landscape with a red sky and a burning tree in the distance. Exploration team reported hearing voices resembling deceased family members. Upon exiting, one agent self-immolated. No footage recovered. Door opening coincided with minor seismic events across three continents.
Room #899: A replica of the White House, fully operational but devoid of life. One portrait of SCP-███ was found hanging in the Oval Office. Contents of the briefcase under the Resolute Desk classified at O5 clearance.
Room #1131: Initiated a ZK-Class reality failure within a 2-kilometer radius. Rapid deployment of Scranton Reality Anchors restored normalcy. Room has not been replicated.
Room #484 (The Void):
When opened, the room was entirely black. No light, sound, or time passage was detected. D-9930 entered and did not return. External observation devices ceased functioning when fully inside. The only recorded data was a transmission from D-9930 stating:
“There’s nothing here. No light, no me, no anything. I think I stopped existing.”
Room was closed. SCP-████ exhibited a 2°C temperature drop for 48 hours afterward. Foundation theorists propose the Void may represent a baseline null-state — a “reset” condition for local reality.
**Notes**:
Due to the increasing threat posed by SCP-████, further experimentation is suspended. A proposal to decommission the object is under review by the O5 Council. Until then, SCP-████ is to remain sealed and monitored.
