The deeper we travel into the jungle, the more we observe the absence of wildlife. It is as though a larger predator has claimed this area, which may explain the reported disappearances. The thought of venturing further into this jungle seems increasingly absurd, yet I am compelled by my duty to investigate. The eerie sensation of being watched grows stronger with each passing moment, though I cannot discern the source. What could be observing us?

We have discovered an unexpected clearing containing a stone structure. At the center, a stone platform supports two statues, approximately 3 meters in height, standing guard on either side. In the middle of the platform lies a book—rough in texture, yet surprisingly smooth. It does not appear to be of human origin. Could this object be connected to the strange disappearances? And if so, why does it seem so dangerous?

While examining the book, one of the guards suggested that we attempt to open it to see what it contained. I reluctantly agreed, and upon touching the book, the guard immediately collapsed, losing consciousness. During this time, the book’s pages began flipping uncontrollably, ultimately stopping at a page marked “1099.” Initially, the book appeared to contain only 400 pages; however, the page count now seems to be far greater. The language on the pages was indecipherable at first, but after approximately 40 seconds, portions of the text began to translate into broken English. The following is the partial translation we managed to obtain:
“At the cost of your blood, you will acquire what thou seek, but break the laws written here, and you will be cursed for eternity.”

Upon regaining consciousness, the guard seemed disoriented and unable to recall any prior memory. However, he was able to provide highly detailed answers to questions that had never been posed. One of these answers is classified as [DATA EXPUNGED]. It is our current belief that the book cannot be touched or moved without causing unconsciousness—or potentially death.
The statues appear to represent angels. The statue on the left holds a sword firmly embedded in the ground. Preliminary analysis suggests it is made of gold. The statue on the right holds a scale, also seemingly composed of gold, yet it remains functional. Further analysis will be conducted once it is deemed safe.

We were awoken to the sound of cracking, as though stone was splitting. Upon leaving our sleeping quarters, we observed that both statues in the clearing had developed cracks along their surfaces, running from the front to the back, creating a 3-foot fissure. I approached the statues to investigate further. The cracks appear to be approximately 3 inches deep, but upon closer inspection, I noticed what appeared to be living tissue beneath the cracks. Further examination will be conducted once the light improves.
