++++ Special Containment Procedures:
[[div]]
SCP-9175 designated "The Hungry mirror" is to be kept within a secured, windowless chamber at Site-██, measuring 4m x 4m x 4m. The object must remain covered by an opaque, non-reflective sheet at all times unless an authorized experiment is being conducted. Only Level-3 personnel and above may access SCP-9175, and all tests must be monitored remotely.
No personnel are permitted to observe SCP-9175 for longer than 30 seconds at a time. Any personnel who report inconsistencies in their own reflections must be placed under immediate observation. If a subject’s reflection displays behavior that deviates from their actual actions, containment lockdown must be initiated, and affected individuals are to be quarantined. Any instances of SCP-9175-1 attempting to leave containment are to be terminated immediately.
Unidentified instances of SCP-9175-1 are to be kept in site-██ until further interrogation, for reintegration in society.

++++ Description:
SCP-9175 appears to be an ordinary full-length mirror with a tarnished silver frame, approximately 1.8m tall and 0.7m wide. The glass surface shows no abnormalities upon physical inspection, but its anomalous properties manifest when an individual looks into it.
Unlike a normal mirror, SCP-9175 does not immediately reflect the subject. Instead, the reflection is delayed, with a lag ranging from a few seconds to several hours. The length of this delay appears to increase the longer a subject interacts with the mirror. However, even when the reflection is delayed, it still accurately replicates the subject’s movements.
After prolonged exposure (typically 10+ minutes of continuous observation), the reflection begins displaying independent behavior. At first, these deviations are minor—blinking out of sync, adjusting posture differently, or hesitating before mimicking actions. However, further exposure leads to the reflection making completely separate decisions from the original subject. The reflection may turn away when the subject remains still, smile when the subject is neutral, or appear to be whispering inaudibly despite the subject saying nothing.
If the reflection’s independence progresses beyond this point, the subject’s actual body will begin to slow down. Subjects report feeling heavy, numb, or disconnected from their own movements, as if something is “pulling” them backward. In extreme cases, the subject becomes completely immobile, staring blankly as their reflection continues to move freely.
At this stage, SCP-9175 initiates its most dangerous effect. The reflection will attempt to exit the mirror—pressing its hands against the glass before stepping out into reality. If this occurs, the reflection fully replaces the original individual. The original subject remains trapped within the mirror, now a lifeless, frozen reflection.
These replacements, designated SCP-9175-1, appear identical to the original individual but display subtle behavioral anomalies. Common traits include:
* Inverted habits (e.g., writing with the opposite hand, responding to familiar questions differently).
* Lack of emotional consistency (e.g., laughing at inappropriate times, failing to recognize personal memories).
* Heightened self-awareness, occasionally glancing at mirrors or reflective surfaces as if expecting something.
* Unexplained knowledge, often discussing events they were not present for.
SCP-9175 also acts as a gateway between an alternate reality similar of our own designated as "Ra-754" as several non-identifiable individuals had appeared from SCP-9175.These are designated as SCP-9175-2. Instances of SCP-9175-2 are to be integrated into society undetected after interrogation.
Some personnel who have encountered SCP-9175-1 & 2 report an uneasy feeling, as if the entity is "pretending" to be human.
++++ Discovery:
SCP-9175 was recovered from an abandoned estate in █████, England, after reports of a missing family surfaced. The house contained no signs of forced entry or struggle, yet every mirror in the building had been smashed—except for one. Investigators found four individuals frozen within the glass, motionless and staring outward in apparent distress. These figures have since remained unchanged. Efforts to recover or communicate with them have been unsuccessful.
+++++ Incident Log 9175-07:
On ██/██/20██, Dr. █████ was conducting an experiment with SCP-9175 when security footage recorded a five-second lapse in his reflection’s synchronization. Within two hours, he reported difficulty moving his hands and an "odd sensation" when looking into reflective surfaces. Dr. █████ was immediately quarantined, but during examination, his reflection stepped out of SCP-9175 and attempted to leave the chamber. Security personnel neutralized SCP-9175-1 before containment breach occurred.
Following this event, all personnel exposed to SCP-9175 must undergo a mandatory 48-hour observation period. Research into possible reversal methods is ongoing, though no known methods exist to retrieve lost individuals from the mirror.
+++++ Incident Log 9175-10:
On ██/██/20██, Dr. █████ was conducting an experiment with SCP-9175,a non-identifiable individual had appeared from the mirror, which after being interrogated said it had faced the same fate as the D-class personnel who had looked into the mirror for prolonged time, it had identified itself as "████████" and has been reintegrated into the society after Class-B amnestic treatment
+++++ Addendum 9175-A:
Testing has confirmed that SCP-9175 affects all reflective surfaces, but only when the subject's original body is within direct view. If SCP-9175 is placed in front of another mirror, anomalous activity ceases entirely. Further research into potential containment using this method is underway.
