**Description:**
SCP-8589 is as a dark, shadowy figure with the ability to emerge from shadows and melt into shadow. In its physical form, SCP-8589 appears as a 6-foot tall entity characterized by midnight black coloration and distinct features such as elongated limbs. SCP-8589 has the ability to manipulate its form to blend seamlessly into surrounding darkness. Oddly, SCP-8589 maintains a consistent height of 6 feet when in its shadow form, regardless of the environment, sun’s position or areas without shadows.
SCP-8589 is extremely aggressive and often launches aggressive attacks on it's prey, using its shadow form manipulation to ambush targets and dodge detection. It can also extend its limbs to ensnare or strike at opponents from a distance. In shadow form, it can also stick on any surface even if it defies gravity. (However gravity would return to normal if he were to go into physical form). SCP-8589 also has a strong need for consuming flesh and any sources of energy, with flesh being its first target. Ongoing research and observation aims to uncover its properties to shadow & physical manipulation.
Current observations and research discovered SCP-8589 has an incapability of opening or closing doors, and is weakened by light. In shadow form, SCP-8589 appears to be unaffected by light. However in physical form, SCP-8589 exhibits signs of being violently ill and would be unable to revert back to shadow form until it’s out of the light. SCP-8589 also can't walk through walls even in shadow form.
SCP-8589 is also incredibly intelligent. When an authorized D-class was sent to feed it some raw beef. The second he opened the door connecting the hallway and the safe, SCP-8589 dashed into the hallway and devoured the D-class, preventing the scientists from opening the other hallway door as it would escape.

Objective: Test SCP-8589’s reaction to various light sources and environmental conditions.
Test 1 – Incandescent Light:
SCP-8589 showed mild discomfort but remained functional in shadow form.
No signs of transformation into physical form unless fully exposed.
Test 2 – UV Floodlights:
SCP-8589 reacted violently upon exposure, thrashing and convulsing.
Became physically ill, unable to transition back into shadow form for 6 minutes after removal.
Test 3 – Laser Light (Focused Beam):
SCP-8589 displayed an unusual reaction, appearing to momentarily "flicker" in and out of shadow form.
Further testing required to determine if high-intensity concentrated light could force SCP-8589 into an unstable state.
Conclusion: SCP-8589 is highly sensitive to high-intensity light, with UV exposure being the most effective method of subduing it. However, it is not completely immobilized, and alternative methods of restraint are under investigation.
