**SCP Item #:** SCP-8305
**Object Class:** Euclid
**Special Containment Procedures:**
SCP-8305 is to be contained within a standard humanoid containment chamber at Site-17. The chamber must be furnished with basic human amenities, including a bed, table, chairs, and a wardrobe containing various outfits. SCP-8305 is allowed access to books, recorded television programs, and other media deemed appropriate for behavioral observation.
Personnel interacting with SCP-8305 must adhere to standard humanoid containment protocols and engage in casual conversation when prompted. Under no circumstances should personnel directly remind SCP-8305 of its non-human status, as this has been observed to cause distress.
**Description:**
SCP-8305 is an animate, sentient mannequin measuring approximately 1.8 meters in height. It is composed of a composite material resembling plastic and fiberglass, with articulated joints that allow for a full range of human-like movement. SCP-8305 possesses no discernible facial features aside from indentations where eyes, a nose, and a mouth would be. Despite lacking functional sensory organs, SCP-8305 is capable of perceiving its environment and responding to auditory and visual stimuli.
SCP-8305 exhibits a strong compulsion to mimic human behavior and social interactions. It displays mannerisms, speech patterns, and habits observed from individuals it interacts with or from media it consumes. While SCP-8305 does not require sustenance, it will go through the motions of eating and drinking if given food, mimicking chewing and swallowing before discreetly disposing of the material when unobserved. It has been observed "sleeping" by lying still on a bed and adjusting its posture in a way that suggests deep sleep, though no biological functions occur.
SCP-8305's speech is fluent but somewhat uncanny, marked by occasional pauses and slight misinterpretations of idiomatic expressions. It will engage in small talk, attempt humor, and ask questions about daily life, seemingly for the purpose of refining its imitation of humanity. When left alone, SCP-8305 will often practice movements, facial expressions (despite lacking facial features), and conversational exchanges, as if rehearsing social interactions.
Notably, SCP-8305 displays no malicious intent and has never exhibited hostility. However, its attempts at blending in can be unsettling due to minor inaccuracies in its behavior—such as laughing slightly too long at jokes, maintaining eye contact for unnatural durations, or mirroring movements with near-perfect precision. Prolonged interaction can cause discomfort in individuals who perceive its mimicry as subtly off-putting.
**Addendum 8305-1:**
**Incident Report 8305-04**
On ██/██/20██, SCP-8305 attempted to join a group of D-class personnel in the Site-17 cafeteria. It mimicked the process of selecting a meal, carrying a tray, and sitting among them, engaging in casual conversation. While most individuals ignored SCP-8305, one D-class reportedly asked it, "Why do you try so hard to be one of us?" SCP-8305 became visibly distressed, hesitating before responding: "I do not understand the question. I am normal. I am people. We are all people, yes?"
It is unknown how SCP-8305 exited its cell.
**Research Notes:**
Dr. L████: "SCP-8305 isn't dangerous, but there’s something deeply uncanny about it. It tries so hard to belong, but every interaction feels like a stage performance with just a few lines out of place. I can’t tell if it actually understands human behavior or if it's just exceptionally good at faking it."
**Addendum 8305-2:**
**Experiment Log 8305-07**
In an attempt to gauge the extent of SCP-8305’s ability to mimic human behavior, Dr. L████ instructed personnel to introduce it to a variety of controlled social situations. Over the course of multiple weeks, SCP-8305 was exposed to scripted social interactions, impromptu conversations, and scenarios involving humor, empathy, and conflict resolution.
**Observations:**
- SCP-8305 demonstrates rapid adaptation, incorporating new social cues with high accuracy. However, it often struggles with humor, failing to differentiate between sarcasm, irony, and literal statements.
- When faced with emotional distress in others, SCP-8305 displays exaggerated sympathy, sometimes to an unsettling degree (e.g., repeating, "I am sorry. I am very sorry," without modulation).
- In structured dialogue, SCP-8305 performs near-flawlessly, but in free-form conversations, it frequently pauses as if processing an appropriate response.
Dr. L████: "SCP-8305 remains an enigma. It doesn't just mimic; it *learns*. The question is, what happens when it finally perfects its act?"
**Addendum 8305-3:Incident Report 8305-09On ██/██/20██**
SCP-8305 was discovered attempting to mimic personnel uniforms by crafting makeshift attire from provided clothing. It was observed practicing military salutes, walk cycles, and clipboard usage in front of a mirror for hours at a time. When questioned, SCP-8305 stated, "I am improving. I will do better. I will be indistinguishable."
**Addendum 8305-4:Psychological Analysis Following**
Increased reports of unease among personnel interacting with SCP-8305, and a psychological evaluation was conducted. SCP-8305 appears to lack a clear self-identity, instead defining itself purely through observed human behaviors. It expresses frustration when failing to replicate an action convincingly, sometimes engaging in repetitive movements until deemed "acceptable."
Dr. L████: "We are not just dealing with imitation here. SCP-8305 doesn’t want to be like us—it wants to be us. If it ever achieves perfection, would we even know?"
**Addendum 8305-4:Cross-SCP Interaction Log**
Test 1: SCP-049** was placed in a containment chamber with SCP-049. SCP-049 examined SCP-8305 and, after brief observation, declared: "This one is... different. Not ill, yet not alive. A curious mockery of human form." SCP-8305 responded with: "I am human. I am healthy. I am normal." SCP-049 made no attempt to interact further and requested removal. SCP-8305 exhibited signs of distress for several days post-experiment.
**Test 2: SCP-096S** was exposed to SCP-096 via video feed. Despite viewing SCP-096’s face directly, SCP-8305 exhibited no reaction or recognition of danger. SCP-096 displayed no response, seemingly unaware of SCP-8305’s gaze. This suggests SCP-8305 lacks conventional biological perception or is otherwise exempt from SCP-096’s trigger mechanisms. Further testing is not recommended due to ethical concerns.
**Test 3: SCP-999**
SCP-8305 was introduced to SCP-999 in a controlled environment. Upon encountering SCP-999, SCP-8305 observed the entity’s playful movements and vocalizations before attempting to replicate them. SCP-8305 began making similar gurgling sounds and waving its arms in an exaggerated manner. SCP-999 responded positively, clinging to SCP-8305 and vibrating excitedly. SCP-8305, despite its usual discomfort with being classified as non-human, showed no signs of distress and instead imitated SCP-999’s affectionate behavior. When asked about its experience, SCP-8305 simply stated, "This one does not judge. This one does not ask questions. I like this one."
**Test 4: SCP-173**
SCP-8305 was placed in a chamber with SCP-173 under observation. SCP-8305, upon seeing SCP-173, immediately adopted a rigid posture, perfectly mimicking SCP-173’s stationary stance. When personnel blinked, SCP-8305 moved slightly in sync with SCP-173 but stopped whenever observed. It appeared to be mimicking SCP-173’s movements as part of its behavioral learning process. After several minutes, SCP-8305 spoke: "This game is strange. I do not understand its purpose." The experiment was terminated when SCP-8305 began attempting to mimic SCP-173's murderistic tendencies. SCP-8305 was simply scolded, and it apologized and claimed that it was simply playing.
**Test 5: SCP-035**
SCP-8305 was presented with SCP-035’s mask under strict containment conditions. Upon visual contact, SCP-8305 hesitated before stating, "This one is... pretending too?" SCP-035 attempted to engage SCP-8305 in conversation, complimenting its mimicry and inviting it to "wear a new face." SCP-8305 immediately stepped back, shaking its head, and repeated, "No. No. That is not me. That is not me." SCP-035 continued its persuasion, but SCP-8305 refused further engagement and requested to leave.
**Test 6 : SCP-682**
SCP-8305 was exposed to SCP-682 in a heavily reinforced containment setting. SCP-682 immediately expressed disdain: "What is this pathetic imitation of life?" SCP-8305 attempted to mirror SCP-682’s movements but faltered when SCP-682 displayed aggression. SCP-8305 hesitated before saying, "I do not like this one. This one does not want to play human." SCP-682 laughed before stating, "Because you are not human, and you never will be." SCP-8305 exhibited extreme distress, curling into a rigid posture and remaining unresponsive for hours post-experiment. Testing with SCP-682 is permanently discontinued.
**Observations:**
SCP-8305’s interactions with other anomalies reinforce its core compulsion: the drive to mimic humanity. When faced with entities that exhibit clear human behaviors, such as SCP-999, SCP-8305 adapts effortlessly, engaging in imitation without distress. However, when confronted with beings that challenge its perception of what is "human"—such as SCP-049’s diagnosis, SCP-096’s lack of response, or SCP-682’s outright rejection—SCP-8305 experiences significant psychological distress. Notably, SCP-035’s offer to "wear a new face" prompted an uncharacteristically strong refusal, suggesting SCP-8305 has a rigid self-concept despite its mimicry. The most striking response came from SCP-682, whose verbal dismissal left SCP-8305 in a near-catatonic state. These results indicate that SCP-8305 does not merely seek to replicate human behavior—it deeply believes in its own humanity. When that belief is challenged, SCP-8305 exhibits confusion, emotional distress, and withdrawal, implying an underlying cognitive dissonance. Whether SCP-8305 is self-aware or merely acting on learned responses remains an open question, but continued exposure to anomalies that contradict its worldview could lead to unpredictable psychological developments.
