Voct recently received a staff warning following leaving comments on user entries into the ongoing WRATHCON contest, informing them that despite enjoying their works the user was refusing to vote due to them being contest entries. The user had prior left a series of heated comments in the announcement thread for the contest itself. While none of those comments were rulebreaking, several other users encouraged the user to disengage from the contest.

As part of the formal warning reminding Voct to only vote on article content and nothing else, Voct was sent a formal cease and desist from engaging further with WRATHCON or WRATHCON entries. The PM is logged below for reference.

This is an official message from the SCP Wiki Disciplinary Team in response to recent comments you have left on Wrathcon entries. I have copied them below for reference.

We would like to remind you that your vote, or lack thereof, on articles should be based on the article's content and the article's content alone. While we understand you have a distaste for Wrathcon, going around and announcing this distaste to users is unfair to them.

We are also issuing a formal Cease and Desist, requesting that you do not interact with Wrathcon related materials on site further. Your protest is seen and heard, but it is no longer productive.

Noting that I do have a concern about the decision-making process used here: by my interpretation of the relevant rule, a user may decline to vote on an article for reasons other than the article's content, including participation in a specific contest. (While we colloquially use terms like "neutral vote," in actuality novoting is a non-action rather than an action.) I do not believe that Voct's decision against voting or his statement of his decision in a comment were prohibited by the rules.

I do support the C&D because I'm of the opinion that he made his point and further repetition would be disruptive without adding anything to the discourse around the contest.
