Sping/Summer Promotions 2024
See Promotions-Policy for how promotions are to be handled. And see the Candidate Discussions on the main-site thread and 05 thread for more information about candidates.
These are votes of confidence. If you are unfamiliar or on the fence about someone, vote NO or Abstain. Only vote yes if the candidate has your confidence and you genuinely feel that they are ready for promotion.
Please post even if you are abstaining from voting. Staff may abstain from voting on any individual votes.
This promotion vote will end in:
Operational Staff Candidates:
This is an open vote for operational staff and above.
Below is a group of suggestions regarding Junior Staff who Team Captains have nominated to be voted upwards to Operational Staff. Please read the commentary provided in order to help your judgement regarding these staff. If you feel they have displayed readiness, vote yes. If they are not ready, vote no; please explain your reasoning.
Junior Staff Member: | Miss Lapis |
Captain/Team: | Licensing (NebulousStar) |
Why: | Ever since joining Licensing, Miss Lapis has been an invaluable member of the team. She can often be found adding licenseboxes in the Recent Edits page and answering licensing-related questions in 19cord. She is reliable and a hard worker; both good qualities to have as a staffer. By being promoted, Lapis can qualify for Mod Tools, which she will inevitably need in order to apply licenseboxes to all the requisite pages. |
Optional areas of improvement: | N/A |
Junior Staff Member: | Zoobeeny |
Captain/Team: | Forum Crit (OriTiefling) |
Why: | Zoobeeny is consistently active in the forums, both as a quality reviewer and as a staff member moderating discussions. He is approachable and pleasant to work with; furthermore, he has a solid grasp of Forum Crit policy and guidelines. Recently, Zoobeeny has also been instrumental in identifying and addressing many cases of AI-generated text being posted to both the mainsite and forum critique spaces. Zoobeeny has written up O5 records for such AI cases, taking care to ensure the detailed reports are thorough. Overall, he is able to perform all tasks associated with the Forum Criticism team, and is a strong example of a well-rounded team member and role model. |
Optional areas of improvement: | More of an experience aspect; I would like to see Zoobeeny try a leadership role, particularly with regards to teaching other staff and site members commonly seen hallmarks for identifying AI-generated text (and for staff, how to efficiently document cases on O5). |
Junior Staff Member: | Anky swallow |
Captain/Team: | Discord Crit (Pedagon) |
Why: | Anky joined the Discord Critique Team exactly 1 year ago and has become a fantastic addition to the team dynamic and function, both demonstrating skills that would make them an effective OS. Anky is a positive and well-balanced member of the team who has shown great care moderating the critique spaces. They're also willing to jump into policy discussion, giving their opinings and sharing knowledge and new ideas to let Deer College grow further. They show great initiative, care and has a great staff voice. They are able to handle difficult moderation discussions and are often one of the first team members to jump in and get the policy ball rolling. Ankyβs critique activity has been decreased recently due to real life taking up time, but I do not think that their activity has slowed down enough to make me reconsider this promotion opportunity. Anky has also begun to return to their summer activity levels that initially inspired me to add them to the team in the first place, so I am also hopeful that this will continue forward. However, the goal I would give Anky as a point of growth would be to just communicate their needs more as priorities shift and activity levels need to be adjusted. As an OS itβs good to demonstrate healthy attachment levels to the role and I would love to see Anky being more outward with communicating when activity levels are decreasing so that JS can learn our expectations are fluid. |
Optional areas of improvement: | N/A |
Junior Staff Member: | gashv |
Captain/Team: | Discord (AriadnesThread) |
Why: | GashV has been a consistently active member of the team since joinjng, both in discussions and in action. |
Optional areas of improvement: | He could do with more trust in his judgment; it doesn't hurt to check, but not every small decision needs a signoff. We trust that this will be remedied with time and look forward to his continued presence on the team. |
Junior Staff Member: | sugarush |
Captain/Team: | Discord (AriadnesThread) |
Why: | Sugar has been an incredible help and quickly taken to their role as part of the moderation team, being vigilant in both adding logs to users and with bans. They've also brought up concerns from people multiple times when discussing issues in the public moderation channels, providing important input. For these reasons, we believe they're ready to be a full moderator. |
Optional areas of improvement: | N/A |
Junior Staff Member: | riftwqlker |
Captain/Team: | Discord (AriadnesThread) |
Why: | Consistently a good source of input into moderation actions and regularly active in the mod channels. |
Optional areas of improvement: | Would like to see more forward-facing moderation when chats get out of hand. |
Junior Staff Member: | CadaverCommander |
Captain/Team: | Discord (AriadnesThread) |
Why: | A level head when it comes to taking care of trolls, bots, and other immediately-disruptive users. No immediate areas of improvement — hopefully full mod powers will allow you to deal with them more efficiently. |
Optional areas of improvement: | N/A |
Junior Staff Member: | leo60228 |
Captain/Team: | Technical (aismallard & stormbreath) |
Why: | leo60228 is level-headed, has significant prior experience with other technical matters prior to being staff, and has been a reliable and helpful member of the SCP Wiki EN technical community for years. They have set up the backend infrastructure for official staff social media use, assisted staff with management of the Wikidot platform, and overall is a helpful resource for the Technical Team. |
Optional areas of improvement: | N/A |
Junior Staff Member: | DrLeviStarkin |
Captain/Team: | Technical (aismallard & stormbreath) |
Why: | DrLeviStarkin has done good work during his time as Junior Staff, making consistent and appreciated edits to pages for technical compliance, and shows a strong interest in wanting to grow as both a member of staff and a member of the Technical Team. He approaches problems with eagerness but also is conscientious to avoid overstepping or making mistakes. This kind of careful approach while still learning the ropes on staff is a good indicator for the kind of people we want as Operational Staff and that they have learned well from their time as JS. |
Optional areas of improvement: | N/A |
Administrator Candidates:
This is an open vote for operational staff and above.
Below is a suggestion regarding an Operational Staff member who the Administrator Team has nominated to be voted upwards to Administrator. Please read the commentary provided in order to help your judgement regarding these staff.
Staff Member: | Rounderhouse |
Captain/Team: | Admin Team |
Why: | Rounder's time on the wiki and as a member of staff can be summed up in one word- growth. Over the years Rounderhouse has developed not only as one of the wiki's most active users, he has also been one of the most consistent and active members of staff. Rounder has worked with various teams, covering duties related to tech, moderation, and general problem solving. We've watched both him and his skills mature greatly from his first day on the wiki. Those who have known him since day one can attest to that growth and progress. Not only has he proven himself able to assist the wiki in its backend technical functions, but he has proven himself a stead and consistent voice when it comes to moderation and policy discussion. Combined with his experience as an administrator over our sister site, the Wanderer's Library, Rounder has more than proven himself as a candidate for promotion to Admin. |
Optional areas of improvement: | N/A |
Staff Member: | Uncle Nicolini |
Captain/Team: | Admin Team |
Why: | Since Nico's return to staff they've been a tremendous force for positive change. As one of the site's most active and prolific authors, Nico manages to balance being active across multiple staff teams with being an active and deeply important creator and cultural link with parts of -INT. Nico is a cornerstone of Curation and CO where they consistently demonstrate an incredible work ethic in leading and introducing new systems to make workflow easier. In addition to their normal staffwork, Nico's demonstrated a consistent and cool head for policy. Users able to contribute to the site creatively, be visible in the community, and engage in valuable staffwork simultaneously in this way are very rare, making Nico especially desirable for this role. I can think of few candidates who are more fitting than Nico for this position. |
Optional areas of improvement: | N/A |
Vote YES or NO. Someone who you are ambivalent to should not receive your vote of confidence for staff, thus abstain or no. If you don't know who someone is, then I invite you to educate yourself and get to know their work before voting.
